Harry Redknapp has reassured Tom Huddlestone that he is very much part of Tottenham's future.

In praising the 22 year old, likening his passing game and touch with Glenn Hoddle, he also pinpointed that Hudd needs to add bite to his game, something which the fans have been saying from day one

Speaking of his player, Harry said: 'He has the fantastic playing ability like Hoddle, to spray the ball all over the park, if he is as good as Glenn he will be a great player as Glenn was fantastic. Sometimes he has to boss a game more.'

'He is like a quarterback, he can deliver a pass on a sixpence from 40 yards with his left foot or right foot. He can put people in, he has the talent to do that.

'But he has to keep getting the ball and sometimes he does not demand the ball enough and he does not take the game by the scruff of the neck.

'I said this morning to him, he has to get at people. If they don't give it to him, he has to tell them 'give me the ball, I am a better passer than you. You get it, give it to me and I will deliver the passes'.'

Looks like Harry is building up his confidence for Saturday which I now fully expect him to start

Gotta praise Redknapp for telling Huddlestone exactly what most of us in the stands have been saying for the last couple of years. Basically he needs to grow a pair....

Hoddle comparisons are way off the mark

He can spray long passes off each foot but he doesn't have Hoddles flicks, turns and shooting ability

He's more like Jan Molby

Oviously got talent, great shot on him and a good passer but clearly is not quite good enough, he is to slow needs to much time on the ball.

One start, and a good pereformance in a game like the one tomorrow against West Ham could kick-start Huddlestone's Spurs career. Obviously, he's not going to replace Wilson or Jenas, but as the fixtures pile up again next season, he could be very handy.

He is still the clubs best passer. I would love to see him have a run in the side alongside Palacios despite the fact that I still do rate Jenas

He is the most talented player in our squad along with Modric. Play this boy alongside Palacios and we are sorted!

it's all about opinions and in mine playing Hudd alongside Palacios instaed of JJ would weaken the team not improve it. His lack of pace would be exploited by opponents.

He's still young and just needs more time to develop his game. Not everyone can peak at 18. We need to be patient with him.

Technically he is excellent. Mobility and desire are questionable. Hoddle was never quick, but had immense self belief and also a fantastic knack of creating that extra yard of space to work his magic.

If I were Harry, I would try my hardest to keep him here for at least another year, because I worry he'll go elsewhere and become a superstar.

doesn't cover enough ground to work in an effective central midfield for me. might work against stoke at home, but not against united away.

You beat me to it!! Huddlestone occasionally makes a pass that you could compare to Hoddle but thats about it. Yes, he does kick a long ball but thats about it when comparing to Hoddle. When Huddlestone can hold a ball, pull defenders and player to him and leave them for dead with an outragoeus flick and / or body swerve and then execute a defence splitting pass out of no where with either feet, then you can propbably start comparing him to Hoddle.

Spot on. Another difference between them. Unlike Huddlestone, Hoddle was able to apply his game effectively, against any opposition anywhere whether home or away,

When has Huddlestone ever really been given a chance I mean week in week out?
The assessment of him is way off.
He's a totally different player to Hoddle.

No way. I am sick of waiting for players to display professionalism and fight. You can't teach that.

He's been whining to the press about not starting. He has always had problems with mobility and weight. He never gets stuck in unless it is a HUGE game and he has been snapped larging it on numerous occasions.

Why do we insist on waiting for players to come good? He has been with us for AGES and given numerous chances, and can;t even fight the much maligned Zokora for a place?

Sell him. And some other team can risk their season on hoping he comes good.

I am on a major player rant recently. We always had the talent, but the Palacious signing proved that you can't do it with talent alone.

We need to get rid of fancy dan players who can still command a price tag, and buy 2 more Palacious style players because we all saw the impact of losing him after his red.

Give this guy a run in the 1st team with palaciousese's face and we'll be solid!

See you at the Game against the Spammers on Saturday HUDD

The facts are there isn't a more talented young English midfielder than him.I'm pleased others see the brilliance in Huddlestone.

Yes he is talented, but he is immobile. More importantly for me, I think he is too placid and lacks a bit of bottle. I guess that is what Redknapp is hinting at in the quotes. I think Hudd has always been so good when growing up, he has never had to scrap.

He reminds me a bit of that famous Clough quote after seeing Nigel Jemson out muscled by a centre-half again; "Son, have you ever been punched in the stomach?" To which Jemson replied no, so Clough proceeded to wallop him in the guts.

He is not immobile. He just isn't Ashley Young. He has needed a ball winner alongside him, which we have now.
