Breaking news on SSN

I bet they contact redknapp tonight as well.

yes, just heard this. i think they will go for Hodgson. I have now had another thought which is that HR is going to retire altogether, possibly for health reasons.

and WBA has allowed the approach... meaning they are ready to part ways with him.

well... interesting to see the development in the coming few days.

Why couldn't they have done this 2 months ago. They've really messed up our season.

A horribly complicated mess. All of which could perhaps have been avoided if Capello had have been held to his contract, and failing that, Pearce automatically expected to step in for the Euros, with no drama. Unlike a number of SC members, I cannot raise the bile or hatred for Levy and/or HR. HR has fronted up about being interested in the England job. He is not the sort of man to easily keep his feelings to himself. This is why he has been a good manager, although it is also his achilles heel. Signings are far from straightforward, players you want don't always want you. Maybe Levy was watching the money. Maybe they let players go that they shouldn't. Their intention, I have no doubt, was to do the best. Mistakes will happen. But what I don't want is a club that is full of unpayable debt. To break into the debt-laden 'top four club' without carrying the national debt of guatemala (sp) is an impressive achievement. i hope we can stagger over the line whoever is manger next season.

I think it is because after this weekend's games, WBA are mathematically safe from relegation. Earlier in the week they had said there are 3 candidates on their short-list. I think it will favour him a great deal that he is our of contract in the summer.

Are David Berstein and Woy Hodgson brothers? They look, act and speak the same.

I still cannot believe that the FA believe that Woy is the best England has to offer manager wise. He is an average manager that gets average results with average clubs.

I can't see this being anything other than a complete disaster. Hodgson is great at getting the best out of mediocre players but I don't think he can handle players with much bigger egos. The fact that he has international managerial experience isn't going to be of much help to him as some think. Switzerland, Finland and the UAE are completely different to the expectations and pressures that comes with the England job. If Hodgson couldn't handle the criticisms and media & fan pressure at Liverpool how's he going to cope with England?

I dont think that his international experience will help him at all? He was only really successful (internatioanlly) with Switzerland when he qualified for a world cup 18 years ago!! With UAE and Finland he did nothing.

He will be gone by this time next year after we have bombed out of the Euros and started badly in qualifying for the world cup.

Agreed he also struggled with the pressure of the Inter job
