I have been supporting our beloved Spurs since the late 70's , from when I was old enough to understand what supporting a team meant.

Unlike a lot of people though this love of Spurs did not come from my parents or family , my dad being a rugby man and my mum tennis so I ask how important are those bygone days and the current ones to keep this famous club at the top.

Money can buy trophys these days , as in the past , but they cannot buy the loyal and large fan base that we enjoy.

Do the clubs like Chel$ki now have a fan base to rival ours I wonder? Will City ever get the type of fan base we have? and will ours keep us at the top?

For those of us on here that have supported our club through the lean years of the 90's how vital is it that we try and impart that loyalty onto others? Will our fan base ever decrease?

I love Spurs and always will and I know you will too but looking at the bigger picture with the finances available to the clubs like man city and the trophys that will obviously bring , how important is our history these days?

Trophies are important because they are the aim of a football club. Football teams are about winning things. Finishing Second in the league, if unexpected might be nice for a couple of years, but it means little in the long term.

What it means for the health of the club and fanbase however is less then most people think. Spurs has a large core group of fans who live Tottenham because of situation, these fans didn't start supporting Spurs for glory and this trend will continue without success. The club will remain strong even without "glory" but that is not the point.

A lot of kids start supporting a team because they are winning lots of trophies/games,so if we want the next generation of Spurs supporters then we need to be in the mix as well.
