So many arms to this argument. But I think largely if the coach / manager has a vision , is working well with the people around him And at the club and has a structure that he is using and reliant on them Persisting to the 2 year mark and
Slightly beyond is very reasonable.

This mangerial search has been dragging on so incompetently for so long that I promise to give the new manager a little patience. How about one week only of pre-season? If he arrives by then...

Its an expectations and results business. Doesn't matter what we as fans think.

Depending on what Levy is suggesting is the minimum expectation (which I would guess is getting into Europe) then results will dictate the length of the appointment.

We can play fantastic football but if we don't address our defensive frailties and concede a hell of a lot less goals than we did this season then results won't change and Levy will look for change. What I hope the manager does is shout that these players are fucking gash.

As a fan, I want to see a defence that works, a midfield who are agile and creative enough with a clinical and flexible attack. I want to see technical players creating opportunities whilst running the game, inciciveness with our play rather than passing it side to side, players being positive, players being brave and working together pressing the shit out of the opposition.

I want players who aren't up to it to be shipped out. We have seen too many players get free passes and our bloated squad illustrates that point.

Expectation from me is to ship out a fuck load of players and bring in some first 11 players. Not interested in building a squad, there are a goalkeeper, 2 centre backs, 2 midfielders and at least one one striking option to be brought in to come into the first 11.

But isn't the thread about the manager - transforming the squad, selling players at a loss (or subsidising their wages whilst they play somewhere else) isn't down to the manager?

What I hope is that Levy's expectation is for someone to come in, change the style of play whilst keeping us relatively competitive - ie within the European places but most likely Europa or conference - for next season. After that, expectations will rise and I'd expect a little more backing in transfers if he's proven himself a bit.

But the players we have will not keep us competitive. If he comes in and thinks he can get a tune out of players who have stunk the place out for a number of seasons or are just not up to the standard then I am not sure I have faith in his ability.

We need someone to tell Levy that there are a lot of players who are Just not fit for purpose, need to be shifted and need effective and upgraded replacements.

But if Jose couldn't do it and Conte couldn't do it - then maybe it's just not possible?

Anyway, this is still a thread about how much time you'd give a new manager - not the general state of the club.

The main question I’d need to know is ..

how bad is the situation the manager finds themselves in ? I’d like to say a year or 18 months or whatever an acceptable answers appears to be for someone like myself who I would consider to be a patient fan.

However, realistically, if we had a new manager come in and we were genuinely hovering around the relegation places come January, I think by that point I’d be like this isn’t working with the players we have this isn’t good enough, we need to get someone else in.

How long are you willing to give your next girlfriend?

If Levy comes out with the sell to buy and no euro football revenue crap, and we've not properly addressed our GK, CB and AM weaknesses before setting off on the long haul tour, then why should Ange or anyone else get the blame for that?

Too many variables to answer properly. Try re-framing the question?

If its Big Ange, it would partly depend on how many and the quality of IN's and OUT's this summer but lets say he can ship out 5-10 and bring in minimum 5 in positions he thinks he needs then I'd like to see some shoots of encouragement in terms of a system and style of play by match 10, results can be up and down especially in his first season, Ten Haag lost his first few games badly, it can take time to change a system and culture.

Just fucking fire him now before he is appointed, save us a lot of ball ache and depression. At least with the whole *who is it going to be?* debate we have some hope.
