He still got it. For two or three years? Yes, absolutely.

He'd probably end up doing well, and motivating these bunch of lazy players, but when it comes to the nitty gritty and that little bit more he doesn't have the tactical nous to take him further.

Pompey semi final, United final, eye of the ball premier league run in for third or better, were all possible if he had changed it up a bit or didn't take his eye off the ball.

What he achieved at Spurs in the timeframe was amazing. From 4-1 for relegation to champions league quarter final a few years later, he really doesn't get enough credit on here, just like most former managers. I think on here and the fans at the game differ quite a bit

In fairness, every manager we've had since Harry has shown at least as many failings in 'tactical nous' as he did. Just in differing ways. And without as much success as we had in those days. But then was Harry the last manager to be allowed to spend more than he recouped?

I wouldn't.

He presided over a great period for us, helped push on Modric in particular, and identified players to keep us in the league. But I just can't see him taking the current squad beyond current levels. Is the disruption worth it? No. He would be a short-term appointment at best, and I don't think he deserves anything with us after that colossal balls up in the final season. There is no way that team should have finished fourth, having been 10 points clear in third.

I would quite like to wake up an discover that Harry was still manager and the past three years had been an unpleasant dream, like that one where it feels like you are running through treacle.

2011-2012.
- Profit 22.5 m

2010-2011
- Spend 17.5 m

2009-2010
- Profit 3.5 m

2008-2009 January
- Spend 37,5 m

He didn't really spend that much. Before Redknapp arrived we sold Berbatov, so we didn't really spend that much money 2008-2009 season. He bought players who wanted to play for Spurs. Also he brought former players as backroom staff. Damn I miss him.

Redknapp was our best Premier League manager by a country mile. But it's a nonsense to think we should entice him back or even for him to want to come back. That chapter is over; abruptly, prematurely and wrongly ended by the club. But there's no going back.

Poch will and should get to carry on. He's a decent guy and it'll take more than a season to properly evaluate if he's the man for the job longer term. It's depressing that we rolled over for the likes of Stoke and others, and a lot of the overly optimistic predictions about Poch's ability and influence seems to be crashing against reality a bit. But just as with Sherwood last year, we should let him manage the side and see how it works out. There's a danger he may run into the sort of run that Ramos and AVB set up for themselves and a slow start next season could be crippling. But hopefully he adjusts the squad and get's us going in the right direction again. Back to something like 4th-5th-4th would be good.

Get slaughtered for this but anyway. I'd rather finish 6th/7th with Poch than top 4 with Harry. For me it's about respect and decency. I want our club to be managed by a man with integrity that I can support when things are tough. Harry is always just passing through and a one trick pony. It all came together for him at Spurs and he was in the right place at the right time for a while but he hasn't ever done much elsewhere to call him a top manager. He sails very close to the wind.
When he had more control of things he left clubs in a mess on and off the field. Thank DL he was never given the Pin No and debit card at Spurs.

If we could duct tape his whole face shut, it would possibly help but he'd still manage to feel his way around and get his electric window down and gob shite off to the media somehow.

He's a free agent or something now?

And in light of what's happened since his axing, what are the opinions?

I'm not suggesting for a second it will ever occur, but hypothetically...

Absolutely gutted to see him back at Spurs.
