Also, with regards to the 4th striker being a hungry youngster, that would be nice but an injury to one of the main strikers means that our bench would have just one unproven striker to come on if needed. It could and maybe would still work, but that's the only problem i'd have with it.

That's the thing with keeping the two big'uns; in the event of an injury you can then possibly play a midfielder in behind Like Modders, Bentley, Dos Santos even Lennon or at a stretch KPB (who has played up top for the Ressies)

Yes, I was particularly impressed by Pav in the Olympiakos game, particularly when he used his pace and strength to burst through their back line to get on to that great ball JD played behind them and put it in the back of the net.

Oh no, that's what should have happened.

How about his goal and assist?

Or! I was particularly impressed with Defoes ability to remember that Pav always likes to step back from the defenders and shoot. His ability to understand Pavs game and link up with him was quite phenomenal.

Oh no, that's what should have happened.

Keano 'should have' scored 2, even 3, yesterday...so the striking partnership worked quite well against a well lauded Pool defense! The midfield performance enabled the strikers to excel....and, in time, whatever permutation we put in the field will perform at the highest level. As long as the old weaknesses, of recent history, are addressed, we will make a lot of managers worry about their European aspirations. As it stands, places 1 to 4 are 'up for grabs' and Harry has a slender advantage.....COYS!

I'm pretty sure Pavlyuchenko scored a good goal in that match but let's ignore that for confrontation's sake?!

I think Pavlyuchenko is (or has the potential to be) our most complete striker, and he showed signs of linking up well with Defoe last year before Defoe got injured. I don't think Keane and Defoe together away against a physical team like Hull would work, and I'd prefer Pavlyuchenko over Crouch to start simply because I believe he's the better player. Of course I could be proven completely wrong but that's the pairing I'd like to see start at Hull.

Oh, he did, and he had a very decent game—but then we were up against a bunch of second-rate bozos. Most Championship sides (and some League 1 ones) would have given us a tougher work-out. Were you raving about Bent's goalscoring record in last year's pre-seasons?

Short on pace, despite being a big guy doesn't appear to have the power to bull his way past physical sides, created next to fuck all last season (just to emphasise, seven scoring attempts made as opposed to Crouch's 51). Two or three games appearing to link up well with Defoe is not enough to extrapolate from (copyright, Hoowl). I'm not writing the guy off, but how you or anyone else can claim he's even potentially our best striker based on last season's league performances beats me entirely.

From our Russian contact (Katharina Zokovall) Pav will prove his worth, this term, after a full pre season. The man has the talent, and I just pray that he gets enough 'pitch time' to show what he can do. COYS!

1-4 up for grabs eh?

Bit different to what you posted less than a month ago after a pretty meaningless friendly against Barca, which even by your standards, was pretty awesome. Best bits are bolded.

I am BACK to having a 'worried head' on my shoulders......AGAIN. I thought that the Spurs 1st team, V Barca Under18 3rds, were as bad as I have ever seen them....in both skill and organization. I will have no expectation on a bright 2009/10 at WHL. We have fallen below many of our Premiership opponents (Man City, Villa, Everton, FULHAM). We are no longer competing for the Top 4 (Top 6?) and, without pointing any fingers at Commolli and Levi (but I am anyway lol) the Harry regime sees us establish the club in a safe 'Harry Rednap' league position of....6th to 8th. That is probably in and around where we deserve to be, on yesterdays pathetic performance? There were so many 08/09 type 'under performances' at Wembley. It would seem that NOTHING changes at WHL....or wherever we field a team? The mistakes were the same as last season...and so were the excuses. We were shown up for what we are, a below par English outfit. The youngsters from Barca were superior in almost every area of the encounter...and Pep & Co had no worries, and no trouble, dealing with what we had to offer, against them? I can't see 'Championship' :shrug:Crouch, or 'oldman' Viera, making any difference.
Yes, I am worried....again....and I can't see a resolution to our qualdry....Can anyone help me lol? COYS

Any chance of admitting you may have over-reacted (again) to a pre season friendly?

The fact that we have 4 forwards all wanting to play and busting a gut to show what they can do can only be good for spurs. That is the competition Harry wants throughout the squad and i have to say it appears to be working well.

It's all right, mate. Leave him. Leave him. He's not worth it. Let it go. You're better than that. I said, leave him. Come on, let's go and get a kebab.

Long season...if we have injuries to the midgets we could end up with Pav/Crouch as our only strikers. We want success this season...having 4 strikers is what we need.

At the end of last year's summer window we were left with Bent, Campbell, Pav & GDS. Rather have this season's strikers than that. All 4 are good, all 4 will get a go.

Agree. It's not a question of "if" but "when" we have injuries. They will come, and then we need the best possible back-up, and atm we got it.

I think if we can maintain our good start and try and keep the feel good factor it will be easier to keep the strikers happy. Let's face it Defoe is the man of the moment right now so I'm sure he'll be starting for the timebeing anyway. I'd like to see Pav start with him as I think potentially their our best combo. Have a feeling though it will be Crouch tomorrow. I don't buy into the notion that you need 4 established strikers, could do more harm than good. Was more or less a disaster when we started the season with jd, bent, keane, and berba.

I think 3 strikers plus a good youngster is enough. I'd be happy if we even just had jd, keane and pav. Now Crouch is here i'd be happy with JD, Crouch, Pav and Giovani as our striking options. Mainly because it's going to be impossible to keep the current 4 happy and it's important to try and keep a happy squad with everyone pulling in the right direction.

Bomber is awesome! It never ceases to amaze me how so many fans can have this pet hate towards one of our strikers. I just don't understand it, each has weaknesses and each has good points. Let's focus on those eh?

The argument that we only won because of the midfield and the defence makes no sense. It's a team game, other than a few occasions where we put the ball in the air to those two we played to their strengths. Keane played well, despite missing three chances, and Defoe though having an off day still showed excellent strength and control.

If Keane had scored one of his chances, to put it another way if Reina hadn't been excellent, and Defoe had gone on to score rather than being slapped by Jamie 'I am too good for England' Carragher, would Keane and Defoe still be a shit partnership that has never worked and we all know it and we need a big man/little man combination come what may even if we beat the second best team in the country?

Oh ok then, my mistake.

I have this feeling that the fans will not give Crouch any time before they tart to get on his back. The big worry is that I don't think he will perform and will become an absolute laughing stock. which will probably see his tenure at the Lane last no longer than 12 months.

Well I doubt that, he got a good reception on Sunday and I don't think it will take him too long to make an impression (once he gets match fit).
