Superb performance yesterday (especially first half) from the boys and Scott Parker was again immense. There is no doubt in my mind with him and/or Sandro in that midfield bossing it makes all the difference.

Im not too concerned that Sandro was again an unused substitute yesterday as IMO he will get plenty of game time. I think and hope Harry will use both in most away games this season especially the tougher opponents and hope to see them both start against Fulham on Sunday. With them two in there this should give the Bale,VDV, and Modric alot of freedom to create and with Ade upfront on his own bringing these into play it should be a great season!!(I hope!)

On to my main point.... There is NO way in a million years Huddlestone is going to get a any where near this side. I know there are a number of Hudd lovers on here. But surely even them must admit we are a far better side without him. For me he makes the odd good pass but this isnt enough. I think he is far too slow and too soft in the tackle to be playing for a top PL side and have always thought of him as a bit of a weak link.

Cant see him staying to play in the Europa league and carling cup games so reckon he will be off in the summer.

3 CMs wont get us through an EPL season though (esp as Parker will need to be nursed a bit).

Hudd's still a very very good player and a lot better option than Livermore.

Parker and Sandro are great DMs, but Hudd's the only other ballplaying CM we have in the event of an injury/suspension for Modric.

Yesterday was the first time in ages that we've played with rhythm. While, granted, thudd doesn't have the mobility or bite that Parker offers, Thudd and modric enable us to play with a swagger.

You don't see it? There were plenty of people here who didn't think Parker was worth the money. Harry rates Thudd, as indeed he rates Parker. I wonder whose judgement I'm going to agree with...

We've only played nine games so far. I agree it's hard to see where The Hudd will fit in, but he's a quality player, and was a really important part of our team with Modric when we finished 4th in the league 18 months ago. Will Parker, Sandro and Modric go through the rest of the sason injury free - no way. I think we'll need Huddlestone at some point this season and if he's got any sort of bottle, then he should stay, improve and fight for his place next year. If Modric or harry leaves, the make up of our squad could gradually (or quickly) start to change anyway, and a new manager might have his own ideas who should play midfield. Also, if Sandro keeps improving we might have a battle on our hands to keep him - could see him moving to Italy or Spain at some point. Keeping Huddlestone might be important.

Yet two seasons ago he put in and won as many tackles as Palacios. He also created over 50 scoring chances, hardly to be sniffed at.

Don't kid yourself.

Im sorry but if you have actualy seen Huddlestone in the flesh you surely must agree that he gets pushed off the ball far too much for a man of his size?!

When he's fit Tom Huddlestone is a very good player. The problem is he hasn't been properly fit for a good 18 months now. I do worry that with the pressure his heavy frame (sorry hudd) puts on his ankles he may have more of these niggling recurring injuries.

Pretty much how I see it.

For me Huddlestone still has a role to play at Spurs, no way is he a write off. To many people in here are to quick to write our players off. Thudd has great techn and when on form is a starting 11 player. Who's to say Parker will maintain this level, who's to say Thudd can't move up a level.

Was just thinking that Jimmy...Hudd's gonna look lik OJ Simpson in the Naked Gun 33 & 3rd.

Our midfield options are so fucking good at the moment that I can't complain. Better than a lot of the shit we've seen in the past.

That would have been a very fair criticism prior to 09-10 (and he also seemed less inclined to get stuck in last season, although his injuries probably explain this reluctance), and I'd agree he could do with a bit of Fellaini's wrecking-ball approach. However, in 09-10 he did put himself about to considerable effect, so to say he can't is just plain wrong.

We're not a quarter of the way through the season yet; we are going to need the options he offers.

It is indeed, what a legend. I was about 11 when we signed him and remember getting so excited because of the Italian name :)

I remember seeing him play for us in a pre season friendly against Brondby. I think that was the only game he played for us!! :)

Don't write Hudd off just yet. He'll play a big part and fit in well at times this season I'm sure.

That said, I rate Modric, Sandro and Parker all higher than him. He's better than Livermore at the moment. Its a pretty solid Midfield five and all will probably play more games come the end of the season (form, injuries, cup games etc).

It's just whether or not he thinks he should be first team and whether he's willing to play for a lesser team than us to secure it. Unless Man Utd come in for him? He's the kind of player who shines more in better teams.

People need to remember if we get top 4 this season then next year we'll have the CL as well as the league to contend with and hopefully we've learned after last season we can't play our best players for every game or they suffer burn out. There will be plenty of games for all our players as long as we utilise rotating them correctly, look at City and Utd always seem to be able to change things around and keep players fresh.

A player of Hudd's quality should get plenty of game time for us, not necessarily the big games but still plenty of games

I am one of those that think that Hud is overrated, check my previous postings about him. I agree totally with your assessment of him as a player but the only difference is that I still think we need him as a squad player in the absence of getting anyone else better.

There's plenty of games between the Euro cup, FA Cup, and the League season, no reason we won't start mixing and matching CM pairings towards the end of the year. Plus I forsee plenty of games where we used three CM's.
