Apologies if this has done the rounds already, if so, then stone me and close it up..

..but i feel we lack a player like this..i know he's meant to like getting forward but i think he'd do a great job as DM. Tough tackling, intelligent on the ball, a player that was awesome in his last year at charlton and is only just coming back into his own after bench warming at chelsea and underachieving at newcastle.

He spported spurs as a kid and is at the peak age of his career..and remembering the success of davids and carrick when we only just missed out on fourth spot due to the kitchen staff being paid off by a certain whinging frenchman...i feel he would be great in the 'makelele role' for us..

First of all Parker and "great" cannot go together. He might be adequate or offer an option we currently don't have but he certainly isn't great.

He's hardly done a great job at Newcastle or West Ham so don't see why we can't find someone better.

A couple of years everytime a team looked a bit soft Savage was named as the answer. Savage wasn't the answer then and Parker is not the answer now.

I would also accept Parker. I have come to realise that all of these players that "aren't good enough" for Spurs are infact doing better than Spurs.

Perhaps The likes of Parker and Nigel RC were never not good enough.

Reo-Coker I'll give you, but how is Parker doing better than Spurs? He was a good prospect once, but now his game is riddled with mediocraty

I rate Parker. He has been surrounded by an interchanging dross of a Newcastle midfield and has had injury problems. If he was fit I would take him in a heartbeat because you could put Gerrard in that midfield and he would look like Gilberto.

Parker I cannot stand. Turned us down more than once to chase where they pay the most amount of money, no surprise he has come out and said he would welcome a move to Man City.

Fuck him, he's supposed to be a spurs fan - I'd happily play for free for the club that I love, he can go to hell. Hope he is happy counting his £50 notes.

I'd take any player willing to play for this club over those that play for a piece of paper with the Queen's head on. I personally think there are better players out there, but his attitude is the thing that makes me not want him anywhere near us.

They are above us in the league, he is on more than our top earners. He is doing pretty well for himself.

I don't know any Tottenham fan who would turn down the chance of playing for the club not once but twice (Chelsea & Newcastle). Is Parker really a Tottenham fan? He can't be surely?

If he was a fan then his boyhood dream would have been to play for the club and turning the club down twice shows how much he values our badge.

Sod him, we can do better.

That's right pay top dollar for a mediocre player like him, who has turned us down many a time, because our midfield needs yet another mediocre player in it. Forget about scouting Europe for a cheaper/better alternative, lets rather line the pockets of the Spammers for tripe like him.....

when are people going to realise that being a pro footballer is nothing like being a fan. Yeah he was a spurs fan when he was growing up but now he is a pro baller so get with it.

Pros like Keane who came out and said it was a dream are full of shit. Keane went as he would be on more money, and playing in the champs league.

Liverpool offered Keane a pro contract when he was younger but he choose to stay and learn his trade at Wolves? hmmmm

Spot on. All this 'turned us down' crap has nothing to do with anything. It's their job and they're entitled to do what they want the same as the rest of the planet. IF Parker signed for us he would do his best. He is a professional and people don't make it as pros without desperately wanting to win and suceed.

He aint a great player but he is the sort of player we need right now - we haven't a player like him and we need one. Maybe we can find someone cheaper abroad but we tried that with Zokora and that hasn't worked out.
Parker tackles (without turning his back), he can pass and he can cover and anticipate. Ask him to sit and he'll do it and do it better than anyone else we have. He'll also settle straight into the team, not after a season.

I think we have a few too many fans who think we're better than we are. We are in the shit and we need to get out of it. We need a defensive midfielder a LW and (at least) one striker. I would be happy for Parker to play for Spurs. We certainly are not 'too good' for him.

Shame we sold Tainio really - another player who slipped through our fingers, probably because of his injury record, a bye product of his "in yer face" attitude on the park.

I miss Tainio

Wouldn't mind Parker coming to Spurs at all. I just want a real DM with grit. Zokora does a job but he is lacking the grit aspect that scares the shit out of opposing players (aka:supered:). Hopefully Parker would do a better job of causing opponents to think twice before running through the middle into a 50/50 or holding the ball a little longer to deliver a killer through ball. It seemed to me that opponents knew TT would tackle hard and avoided his tackling as much as possible by rushing plays.
