when klinsmann was here there were some decent players around but the team was going nowhere defensively speaking therefore it was ok that he left and could still be regarded as a legend as we didn't reallly blame him. but these days we are in a position to kick on from here, heck we would even be further ahead had levy bought the right players and not undermined bmj therefore i for one would be feel very let down by berbatov if he did not see out 2 more years at the very least. with berbatov on board we can realistically aim to qualify for the CL, maybe even become involved in a title race if we get a good start.
if he were to leave now i would always look back with a smile and say ''that world class striker used to play for spurs''
but never regard him as a legend. you have to show some love for the club , for that.
berba could easily drag us into the CL..
edit: that said, i would not blame berba for leaving as some of the things the club has been doing at boardroom level have been highly questionable, negative and ultimately regressive.

If Berbatov leaves the Spurs Fans shouldn't worry. Although a wonderful player when he wants to be, his contribution this season has been overrated and IMO he can indirectly be replaced by improving other positions on the field. The money we could demand for him would also soften the blow, anything thing between 25-40M is great value imo.

I think this is about right. Klinsmann became a legend just by coming to the club in a lot of people's eyes. It was so out of leftfield. This has enabled us to gloss over the fact that he used us to get back in the Germany side and did a runner the first time any top team showed an interest again. Would this have been the case if he hadn't come back to help us avoid relegation? I don't know.
Berbatov didn't have that caché when he came and so, rightly or wrongly, has to do more to earn the status. For me, if he leaves this summer, he'll be like Carrick - good player for us, but not a legend. If he signs a new contract, now you're talking…

I will go further and say that he also needs to respect his team mates more instead of that glare and arm raising strop he demonstrates when a ball is not played directly to his feet, or when one of his team mates choose to pass it to some one else.
You could see players like Davids and Klinsman knew they were good, but were always encouraging their "lessers" for our cause which to me is a key ingredient in being a legend.
Being good but arrogant and self centered is not compatable to being a legend in my book.
