When you have the best keeper in the world isn't anyone a downgrade??
There's only two keepers in the world I'd take over Lloris - Courtois and Neuer. So to answer your question, I suppose, yes!

Lloris is so damn good, I just hope he doesn't leave.

If someone in the Champions League comes in with a 30m or so offer and Lloris asks to go, then Levy will let him go without doubt.

Whoever we get will be a downgrade and names like Begovic, Krul and Vorm I think are going to be the standard of replacement we get. But we'll have some change to spend elsewhere.

I can't believe some posters would be ok with Lloris ( and Vertonghen ) leaving. Unless there is something I don't know like them being at the end of their contracts or subject to a release clause the club should just say no to any offers whatever they are. An early statement from Levy making that clear as he did for once with Modric is the only thing that will cut out the speculation and uncertainty. We had enough changes this year ( too many ) and it should only be the players who are clearly not good enough that should be released . Top of the list should be Rose , Kaboul , BAE and Sigurdsson. Personally I think Townsend can go too. We must bring in a LB and at least 1 centre back. But Lloris and Vertonghen ? No way .

The reasons I'd be ok with/understanding of Lloris leaving:
1) He's been extremely professional throughout his time here, never complains or causes controversy, seems like a great guy.
2) He's been excellent and let down by those in front of him in what is a shambolic season, when you are one of the best in the world, how much longer do you want to stick around in a club that seems direction-less? He'll see Bale already won his first cup. Basically I'd be understanding of him thinking he could do better, because he can.
3) He is replaceable.

Obviously don't want him to go at all, praying he stays. Getting a big name manager in is crucial.

Replacements:
1) Forster (get an Englishman at the back, always helps to have someone of the same nationality as the club they play at, HG spot. Ticks off 1 of those spots every time. Plus he is very good and would be willing to come, would get him at a nice price too.
2) Begovic
3) Krul

Vorm is a big no no for me, I think he's tailed off a lot in the last season/season and a half.

If lloris went(doubt he will)

I would have the following players on the list
Lopez (currently in a power struggle with Casillas, he may lose if a new manager comes in)
Casillas (same as above but the reason why he could be possible, is if he left Madrid, I think its fair to say we are the biggest club that is looking for a keeper, only because everyone else has one)
Begovic
Marshall
Foster

I would also like to sign Ryan, based on nothing but youtube clips

surprised no one mentioned Samir Handanovic

age is the only downside (29-30) but he's a super super keeper , one of the world's best

doubt he would leave Inter though

You can't believe people would be happy about verts leaving, then suggest it would be ok to let Kaboul go??

You cite the reason "as not good enough" can't agree with that, only reason i would look at moving Kaboul on would be his injury concerns.

If he is over them, he just needs a run of game(he was out for a very long time) just needs to get himself going.

IMO if he does this, he is the best defender we have, better than Verts, strong, powerful and carries the ball just as well as verts can.

When I hear people saying they think we can replace players like Lloris or Verts I just facepalm. Every single top player we've sold has taken us about 18 months to replace, in terms of quality in that position.

We have to hold every single one of our best players this summer. Tell them straight away, we're not selling anyone, we have massive ambition and a big manager is coming in. Put the shit season behind us and get psyched for next year, we're going places
You mind if I repost that 2nd para in the joke thread?

Don't think many of us want them to go except for Jan he can happily leave for me it's more of the fact we expect them to go especially with our chairman.
Every player we buy is bought with sell on for profit in mind when they decide to leave the club get maximum for them whilst replacing with you upcoming talent.
As for Lloris you can't blame him for leaving as he been here for two seasons now and we still haven't made champions league so how long do we expect them to stick around while every year we miss out.
We can't keep selling these players dreams when in negotiations to buy them and then not deliver on that that's the way of the world now if we can't offer success which we can't then someone else will.

Can't believe supporters would be ok with the club selling it's top players again for the third summer in a row. When does it stop?
It's not like Levy is touting them round Europe is it?

If players want to go it's pointless forcing them to stay. If you wanted to leave your job and your boss kept blocking it how would you feel?

I would hate to see Hugo move on. I can understand him wanting to play champions league football but if we get a top manager I still think we can have a realistic push next year.

Lloris is the best keeper I've seen at Spurs in years. His save from Rodegella was incredible.
