I'm not usually a "what if" person BUT.....

Stoke
Everton
Wolves

8 points dropped

Looks like this season is shaping up to be the most open in years, I just hope we can stay consistent! And I hope those dropped points don't come back to bite us! Great result today beat a team that has only lost once at home and another clean sheet!

i hope the season stays like this, its insane, anyone can beat anyone.

i think it comes down to that the tradional top 4 havent improved, and in some cases (liverpool, man u) gone backward. while the chasing pack have improved alot

more like a top 8 this season, good stuff

Other teams have a lot of those "if onlys" too though, they just happen during the course of the season. Don't look back, just forward.

Thankfully every club in a similar position can do the same process. We're doing fantastic. With a tasty January signing and the Return of the Mod those 8 points lost will be long forgotten.

Not that I'm naive enough to think we could ever forget that wolves match, but I'm just saving my 'what if' cards till the end of the season :)

But other teams will have looked at some of the games they have played against us and wonder how we won. And I would add Villa to your list anyway :p

I think if we keep dwelling on what could have been we will all end up in tight white jackets

On the other hand.... you could point to very fortunate home victories over Sunderland and Birmingham.

I'm not too unhappy about losing to Stoke , they are seriously underrated and Tony Pulis is very savvy manager .

It is frustrating but then Villa fans will be thinking the same about the fact that they got beaten at home by the team we tonked 9-1.

And if Jenas had scored at 2-1 in the United game...come on. Football seasons don't work like that. Momentum and pressure are very important. I am not saying that we wouldn't have won the last two had we won at Villa, Everton and home to Wolves, but you cannot categorically say that we would have. I think Redknapp gave the team a big kick up the ass after Wolves that he wouldn't had we won and we all know what complaceny does to Spurs. We may see this on Boxing Day.

Besides, we were technically the better side at Villa but we hardly battered them or even game up a lead. They could have snatched it at the end as well.

As for the nail in the coffin of the Keane-Defoe partnership as a bragging poster implies, this is nonsense. Most of our early season wins and impressive performances came with those two and it just so happens that Crouch has found form both in front of and away from goal, and Redknapp's construction of the squad is looking very impressive.

So we've established that if we had won all our games we'd be top then?

Extra points "could have/should have won":
v Stoke - 3
v Villa - 2
v Everton - 2
v Wolves - 3
Total - 10

Points "could have/should have lost"
v Birmingham - 2
v West Ham - 2
v Portsmouth - 2
v Sunderland - 3
Total - 9

...and come the end of the season, I bet there won't be much more than a couple of points in it then too.

If only..... Spurscommunity posters concentrated more on the positives, like a brilliant first half of season which (all things going well v Fulham) might leave us on course for over 70 points.

What if.... Spurscommunity posters chose to be happy that we're playing well, coping in different circumstances, and slowly ironing out the errors and mistakes that have plagued us for so many years?
