I think I would prefer Arsenal to miss out, even though I dislike Chelsea WAY more than them. We would have a better chance of solidifying our position if it was Arsenal instead of Chelsea who missed out.

Maybe it depends on where you were brought up....could that play a part in how you feel about certain clubs?

I grew up a stones throw away from the Lane (i moved east in my late teens)...we detested the scum so much.We hardly knew any chelsea fans to really hate, but the scum were on our doorstep and boy did we hate them.....so for me this is very easy to answer...the scum losing out, all day and all night ....

I'm not thinking about the consequencies of whats best for our club, i just want the scum to fail for my own satisfaction..

arsenal. if chelsea miss out, they will just spend mega bucks and reboot like manc first season. arse on the other hand would be way more detrimental to their club if they miss out

Arsenal as it would put their nose out of joint for the summer and their fans will be baying for blood at the board/Wenger....

I couldn't care less to be honest. The only club I care about is Spurs, providing we make the top 4 I am totally ambivalent as to if it is Chelsea or Arsenal who join us.

The club's interests would probably be best served if the Arse missed out. Being a foreign west London lilywhite I have always despised the chavs more than anyone else. I would take great pleasure in seeing them miss out bit I don't think it would affect their long term prospects much whereas missing out could herald significant change at the arse.

Has to be Arsenal. If Chelsea miss it they'll still buy Falcao or someone of that calibre, get Mourinho and hold on to Mata, Luiz, Hazard etc. Missing CL won't really change what they do, if anything it'll possibly force Roman to splash more money for Jose's new team.

If Arsenal miss it it will seriously effect their transfer budget and will lead to a summer of Cazorla, Vermaleen etc being linked with every CL club in Europe.

Also, as scummy as Chelsea are, we're taking about Arsenal here. Arsenal! Plus it'd be their first time missing CL and our first time finishing above them in the PL.

I thought long and hard and I decided that I want Chelsea to miss out most. First of all I hate what they represent. Secondly, more pragmatically, the pressure of ffp besides Abramaovich's ambition, when they have a small ground and supporter base means they're more likely to do something stupid and dodgy. I already can't work out how they make so much from match day without the TV money they'll have to find funding from somewhere and try to hide that the source is the owner. They'll probably get away with it, but there's a chance they won't and if they don't the consequences could be big

Arsenal to miss out. As others say, Chelscum will plough on and still attract the stars with mega wages (I have no faith in FFP rules).

If Arsenal have that kind of season, could be the beginning of the end for Wenger and then they're in the new manager lottery which could have them floundering for a few seasons just as we get our financial firepower in place with the new stadium. Anyway, that was my Saturday morning dream...

To those predicting Chelsea would just throw money at it, would they be able to with the FFP rules coming in? I understand it's one of the reasons they haven't been spending big recently. They can justify some of the outlay because they have a lot of income from CL football.

If you'd have asked me this 10 years ago I'd have said Arsenal without a doubt. Now I seem to dislike Chelsea more.

However, it'd hurt Arsenal more than it'd hurt Chelsea. Even with Europa League football they can still throw money at players and promise them CL football the following year. It'd shut Arsenal fans up about always qualifying for CL.

There is no point thinking about it unless we actually qualify.

Both have very good teams. Arsenal have massive revenue streams already. Chelsea will pull all kinds of back-handers to avoid FFP consequences. They will both be very competitive next year regardless.

The team that would be screwed the most is us, so I just want us to qualify and the rest can be whatever.

All you need to do is go on the thread/topic that you want to respond to, scroll to the bottom where you can write your response then click post reply. If you managed start a new thread it shouldn't be too challenging.

The thing is Arsenal normally sell their best player and then sign someone slightly worse next season they cant do this as they dont have great players but them missing out on CL this season may make wholesale changes there tbh. As Usmanov is more vocal when they are shit. As for Chelsea them missing out on Mourinho would be great and they cant keep spending like this if they going to make FFP, they would lose out on around £30mill and that would take them to a £25million loss before transfer tbh.
Missing out on Champions League football won't have any baring on Mourinho coming back, they have money to spend regardless of FPP and will in my opinion flaunt it

Arsenal are much more reliant on CL football - missing out could have a real impact on them

If Chelsea miss out they'll only spend more and become more determined to get back in the game with Utd - missing out won't matter to them, just a one season blip
