I don't think we're allowed to post links (are we?).
Anyway, I have on my computer a program called Malware Bytes and if I have to use a stream, I run this after and it often finds dodgy adware that has been installed onto my web browser and then deletes it for me.

If you do a search for: ' malwarebytes free home version '

you should find it.
I just use Malwarebytes paid for version. It's £20 and actively scans and blocks things like that before they get downloaded.

I had to help my friend who's not really tech savvy as his PC was running like crap with a ton of pop ups and ads appearing anytime he went to almost any website. Was a nightmare.

He appreciated me helping him with the problem.
He didn't appreciate me telling him while his missus was in the room, to not to visit so many porn sites.

Apple OSX is a unix-like (BSD) operating system. Similar to linux that I was suggesting earlier. Unix-like systems are not as prone to safety concerns as windows boxes for many reasons, some due to the nature of the OS and also because they are less targeted than the 800lb gorilla that is windows due to marketshare.
Same I would think with a Chromebook. I converted an old windows laptop to a chrome os and it is perfect for online activities with no worries.

Basically all the younger generation stream football, it's only some of the older generation that don't know how to live stream that are propping up Sky Sports, there will come a time when basically every man and his dog know how to easily stream football games and that's when the EPL financial bubble will burst IMO..
You could argue that it is only the older generation that can afford to go to games too.
The next generations will have far less disposable income, or any habit of going to games.
Only a few elite clubs will be able to continue as now.

And what malware does the malwarebytes install in turn :cautious:

You'd think that in the 21st century, they would be able to have supporter packages where you pay, i don't know, a £100-£200 (or whatever) for a season ticket to get every game live of your favourite team. People will still go to games. I would much rather have a season ticket to the actual game for the atmosphere etc. The only way BT or Sky will do that is when another company comes along and takes their customers away.

I have the premium version, which runs constantly while the laptop is switched on.
Have to say that element evidently doesn't work great as when I do a full scan it sometimes finds the odd PUP file, which it should have blocked before it came through.

I had to take a look at the father-in-laws computer a year or so back because it was running so slow.
As soon as I turned on the ad blocker and ran a full Maleware Bytes check it improved a lot.

Funniest experience I had was with a neighbour's computer. They said it was barely running/unable to connect to the internet etc. so as I apparently know IT inside out (not my words), they asked me to take a look.
It was f***ed.... and almost quite literally.
Both husband and wife were unaware of "delete history" option..... I was astounded!!!
The one that sticks in my mind specifically.... Gagonmyc**k.com
Funnier still was that his profile seemed to contain a history of visits to gay porn sites.

I couldn't fix it.... or more, I chose not to waste any more time trying to sort it out.
It's my back up info in case they ever slag us off to neighbours....

Fully agree with this, problem being the law needs changing to allow access to 3pm kick offs in this country, no company can offer that legally atm.
Matter of time before this happens, big businesses have a habit of getting their own way.
Sky's business model is frankly ancient, and only really worked in a pre Internet era.

I'm astounded when i'm asked to look at other peoples PC's for them.....Time and again i tell them what to do, what to use, what to update, how to clean etc, but they still come back after 3 months saying it's mashed. I don't mind though, a quick deep scan and a system restore is no problem, i get a nice drink out of it whilst they're happy for some unqualified chump to browse their internet habits.

I think a lot of people find computers intimidating, beyond browsing the web and almost have a mental block about trying to figure things out.

The world has changed and most people in the UK now expect to be in control of what they watch - be it through Netflix, Amazon, BBC iplayer, Youtube etc. More and more people are streaming all the time and less and less people are following the regular TV schedulings. So of course it is seems incongruous to be given no choice of what live Premier League matches to watch. I think most people would be happy to pay a subscription fee ( as long as it was fair) to be able to watch their favourite team on TV every week and, by the logic of this survey ('upwards of eight million visits per month'), match day attendances wouldn't necessarily be affected by any significant degree.

I use my old PC for streaming matches and films so I don't mind if it gets infested with malware and other crap. If it starts getting slow and I can't remove the crap I just format it. I'll keep going until the motherboard gives up and then get another cheap rig. Still a hell of a lot cheaper than a Sky subscription.

I do go halves with my old man for BT Sport though as it shows a lot of Italian football, as well as CL, Europa and the odd Premiership game. So it's worth it for us. Sky just simply isn't.
