Andros Townsend insists his long-term future is at Tottenham despite being consistently linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.

Top man.

He is still one of our hottest prospects. We are a quicker more dynamic team when he is playing.

Why would we want to sell him. The fact is we need more players who love the club and I am not talking about badge kissers. Last season we saw what it was like to have a disparate group of players when things were not going right they had the habit of rolling over without a fight. I think players who want it so much also push the majority of players around them to work harder.

The raw talent of Andros is there to see for everyone (for the haters too!). I strongly believe Poch is the man to help him fulfill his vast potential.

...kind of sounds like a trailer to a low- budget porn flick.

Good lad. I have no doub that with a decent run under a competent manager he will force his critics to eat their words

I'm delighted that our home grown players are finally getting a chance and hope that many more of them do.

I don't doubt his commitment to the Club, but he's no better than average and adds little to the team overall. When you look at his goal and assist rate it's quite appalling really.

Hope one day to see a team with Lloris and 10 home-growns with such attitude.

I'm a Spurs boy too but doesnt mean I'm good enough to play for Spurs.

Townsend is Championship level at best. Clearly some people either don't watch the games or I must be watching something else cos he offers absolutely nothing - can't pass, only ever looks to cut in and shoot rather than create chances......can't actually shoot.

Agree with @Gazza2K2 - Andros, for all his love of the club and energy, is not very good at shooting and he tends to lose the ball in stupid positions, such as against Liverpool which led to a goal, and also a few occasions I can remember against Man You and Chelsea. Maybe it's a concentration thing, maybe having played well for England he has too high an opinion of himself? Not sure, but unfortunately I don't think he's got what it takes. But he also has the potential to be one of those players that would excel elsewhere (KPB)

I'm convinced that he has ability, but he has really failed to push on since he broke into the team.

Selling him now would be a mistake though. I'd give him at least next season to prove he's improving.

Good luck to him, probably looks at what Kane is doing and sees that as inspiration. Don't think he has the talent of Kane, but if he adopts Kane's attitude, who knows? He might have the raw attributes to do well.

Gaz - You are right - to date..But the raw potential is there to see. Frankly he needs to stay behind after training and hit a hundred crosses on the run down both flanks until he can do it without thinking - that can be trained into him....then he could be a very useful weapon.
At the moment - the cut inside, shoot and repeat attitude prompts all the doubters (including me) to never want to see him on the park again!
He's young enough to try and improve and that kind of speed fest (his touch ain't bad either) can prove to be very useful.
Interesting to see that M.Salah hasn't done the business at Chelski - I think he really could be the business - tore us apart a couple of times when at Basel.

Fair play to Andros, his attitude and work rate are excellent. That said it doesn't escape the fact that he has a lot of work to do on his game in general.

I'm still not much of a fan right now, but happy for him to try and change my mind.

Sums it up for me as well, he has played nearly 70 games for us and we are still talking about his so called potential. He needs to show a lot more then he has done so far.

I agree his problem is I don't think has realised what makes him good and what makes him important to the team / what the team needs from him. He needs to give us width and early balls in to the box, play it simple and create chances for others. I thought against Chelsea he played better by sticking to the basics. There's no doubt he has talent and if he can just do the basics well he will be really important for us he is good at beating his man he can put really good balls in the box.

He was a potential member of the World Cup squad 12 months ago. He is young, quick, home grown and is probably on about 15k a week. I can't see why we are in a hurry to get rid of him!
