Anybody going back and handing out "Disagree" or "WTF" ratings to these 2009 posts yet?

Some fans just love to moan.

We're winning. Soon hopefully we will be winning well.

Here's something worth bearing in mind.

If you cast your minds back to this point last year we were in a similar quandary. We got played off the park by Wigan at home and looked absolutely abysmal. The buildup was slow and predictable, creativity nonexistent, and we were dominated by a team that went on to get relegated.

We then proceeded to finish the season on 72 pts.

I'm not saying the last 3 games are an anomaly and we're bound to come good, but, much like this point last season, AVB has almost an entirely new first 11 to work with. The back 4 (not including Rose or Chiriches) Dembele, Sigg and Sandro aside, almost all of our players are new to either the PL, AVBs tactics, or both. Not to mention they aren't used to playing with one another. Perhaps we should give them a little more time before we start writing the team and the tactics off, eh? Look how last season worked out, albeit with the help of a certain Welshman.

This is the thread!

I dont know if its fickle, dellusional or just a lack of appreciation as to how hard it is to get a team playing a certain way when the opposition are set up entirely to nullify you.

We are finding it hard to link the play between the offensive midfielders and the strikers, everyone can see it. Other teams strangle us and put 10 men in the space where we want 5- 6 of our players to be attacking.

Its not easy

But yesterday we were trying, our through balls on occasion were inches away from finding the gaps, and yes there were a few that were not, but this is football. The players are still learning their trade within the team.

There are more positives about us as a team then there are negative in my opinon. Linking the midfiel with attack better will come in my opinon/.

We are not entertaining at the moment but are getting results which is far more important.
The next couple of years are crucially important for us as a club. Building the stadium and financial fair play mean that if we can get our foot in the cl door we will be very difficult to shift.
We could actually become a big club again.

nice one dudu

Thanks dude. Its just like there is always something to complain about unless we are destroying teams 3,4,5-0

I am a huge huge football fan. Its not like i cant see our deficiencies.....everyone can! But the exact reason it is so hard for us to play the way we want to see is because our oppositions are aware of exactly how good a team we have. Teams dont want to fight against us.... they want to tire us out and sneak a sucker punch when we make a mistake.

That was a super team! We had four world class players in it (King, Modric, VDV, Bale). We have a much better keeper but otherwise a weaker team

I'm getting really annoyed with fans being branded fickle if they don't like the brand of football the team have been playing since the new Manager came in or believe certain players don't fit and will not fit a certain system, which raises questions over transfer policy.

People love to use the terms 'knee jerk' and 'fickle'. it's absolutely neither.

I think the problem is that people are looking over their shoulders and seeing Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and co destroying these types of teams at home - or at least not winning only on penalties :/ (Though Arsenal were very jammy on saturday)

yup, as they have been in previous games also.

We should have battered Cardiff at home as we should have done swansea. The problem was finishing not in creating the chances.

All the teams around us have had streaky wins and / or disappointing dropped points.

Arsenal were far from impressive against Sunderland, Stoke, West Brom, Swansea and Palace. Not to mention losing at home to Villa.

Chelsea were far from convincing against Hull, Villa, Norwich and Cardiff while also losing to Everton.

Liverpool struggled against Stoke, Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle while also losing at home to Southampton.

Don't really need to mention that Utd and City have both been disappointing this season.

All of the above!!! - i have no idea why people think we are going to destroy or even dominate every team we play. And when we do for a half or so of a as we have actually done at least 3 or 4 times this season people just dismiss it because they think that is what we as spurs always do.....

Hm, you're right there. Just so we're clear, that wasn't my personal thinking, I just think people probably watch other teams' highlights on match of the day, see Ramsey, Özil and Cazorla playing all this nice football and then get frustrated that we're grinding out results, though as you say, other teams haven't been much better!
