Stephen Carr left Spurs to win things.

Few have directed more vitriol and disdain his way than me, I've always been sore about his behavious towards the club post George Grahams sacking.

However, now that he's won something, I couldn't be happier for him.

When Steve, went up, to lift the Carling Cup.....

Yeah odd I have disliked him since he left, but seeing him captain today made me happy, and winning it too... lovely.

Never have I been so happy in a game thats nothing to do with us!

Oh I don't know - The defeat by Barcelona in the Champs League final was good and then there was Nayim from the half way line!

But well done Stevie Carr

Agreed, he played fantastically well and has done for quite a while now - very consistent and I haven't seen him embarrassed in a long time.

Regardless of the cloud in which he left us, to lead (in all tense and purposes) a team to victory against the Scum should be applauded - well done Stevie, all is forgiven!

I dunno, I still think he was a proper cock for leaving in the way he did.
And for having his picture taking with A***nal gear when he thought he was off to join them.
He's not behaved like a gentleman, can't get past that.

The Steven Carr thing was in the distant past. I can't imagine holding a grudge against someone for that long for basically making a poor career choice. Birmingham did really well today and it is extra sweet to see them win it against Arsenal. This might just mean that Liverpool miss out on a European place all together.

I have habitually referred to him as Sterphen "I'm going to Newcastle to win things" Carr. But today, I think I can find some forgiveness and congratulate him.

Need Man U, Man C and Arse to not win the cup for that to happen. Unlikely but as today has showed, everything is possible

The Carr thing is distant past now, I'll always remember him more for being a top player during our dark days than for the way he left. But this does kind of complete the cycle in a fitting way.

To be fair all we've won since he left was one Carling Cup too.

When he left he was also getting pushed for his place in the team by Stephen Kelly, and we replaced him by Stalteri who definitely looked an upgrade for that first season.

Yeah. Getting into the CL means nothing.

It means a lot financially, but there's not the same glory coming 4th.

We came 3rd in 1990, but winning the FA cup in 1991 was on a whole different level.

I'm not the bitter type, but I genuinely enjoyed that almost as much as a Spurs win (not a trophy win obviously, but a run-of-the-mill league game against a mid-table opponent, let's say). Just wish we'd stayed a bit closer to Arse in the league, because they could really wobble at this point and would be great to be in a position to take advantage of that.
Anyway, good luck to Steven Carr - he's even remembered how to smile (God, but he was a miserable git the last couple of seasons playing for us - looked like he'd rather have been a million miles away, or perhaps just a few miles up the road ...)

We aren't that far behind, and they still have to come to the Lane, remember.
