As far as I am aware Arnesen was still around when Davis came back from his knee injury, so both Santini and Arnesen had not gone when he came back as the Daily Mail reckons, is it that hard to get your facts right in any situation, let alone when it's your bloody job.
As for Davis' ascertion that Defoe would be top scorer if he was playing and that he is "one of the most clinical finishers I have seen", since when was lashing the ball straight at the keeper or high and wide (occasionally in the net) clinical finishing, though I suppose he has only really witnessed the likes of Marlet, Rasiak, Nugent and Benjani attempting to be clinical, I am convinced that Benjani will soon revert to his old self and the goals will dry up btw, hence he is on my list.
Davis also does a disservice to Keano with that comment, Defoe has had chances and not taken them, whilst Keane has carried the goal scoring burden through long spells consistently for 3 years now, Keane scores goals, Defoe scores and contributes less, bottom line.
For some reason this article really wound me up even though there are countless others every day, perhaps some overpaid, anti-Spurs div has earned yet another paycheck for this pointless and inaccurate cack and inadvertently broke the camels back. Anyone else agree or am I being particularly touchy?
As a side note, I am glad that this article was not based on Mendes, I remember him fondly, whereas Davis I remember more as a bitter, gobby chav who moaned when he left, despite not being in Carrick's league, that he wasn't given a chance by Jol, and in fact had a lot of negative opinions of Jol that he couldn't wait to mouth off about back then. I am glad that the memory of Pedro has not been tainted.
To summarise, I hate Sean Davis........and journalists.
