Injuries during medicals

As I was reading through the Zanillo thread and the worries about his injuries I had a random though, which proved hard to Google.

Does anybody here know of any players who have gone to a medical for a transfer fully healthy and then actually got a bad injury during the medical itself?

Some players are so injury prone that it must have happened at least once?

Only instances I vaguely recall have been things like ECG's showing up unknown heart issues that neither the player or parent club were aware of; the problem didn't show up on their medical (this was before ECG's became a regular thing monitored by a club once/twice a year; I may be wrong but I thought regular checks became compulsory a while back)

I forget who it was but there was an African player that had a really good tournament and a bunch of Europes heavy hitters were trying to sign him, he had a medical and it showed up what would now be considered a minor ailment easily remedied and the transfer fell through the club missed out on a huge fee, the player didn't get the dream move.
IIRC he had corrective minor surgery carried on playing in the lower German/French leagues (albeit playing with a bit of a sulk)

Anyway I think years later he ended up signing for Newcastle or someone, very much no longer in their prime pulled the odd bit of spectacular out once/twice a season before moving on after a few seasons.

Aly Cissokho - failed his AC Milan medical because his teeth indicated he may develop heart disease

Did Remy not have a similar issue as well? Something to do with finding a heart defect? Might have been at Marseille before he moved to the prem.

Yeah he did and Demba Ba had knee issues which if I remember correctly clubs could not get insurance for him

Close and not caused by the medical but a week after his medical and signing for Dortmund Sebastien Haller found he had a tumour in one of his testicles :wideyed:

Fekir failed a medical to Liverpool, then moved to Betis the next season for 40 million Euros less. It was funny to laugh at Aulas until he got his money back off us with the Ndombele fee
