Looks like Modric, Van Der Vaart, Adebayor, Assou-Ekotto and Sandro all doubtful

Tottenham could be without several of their stars, including Emmanuel Adebayor, for this weekend's north London derby at Arsenal, manager Harry Redknapp has revealed.

Redknapp had to make a number of changes to his line-up for Sunday's FA Cup fifth-round game at Stevenage and the difference was telling as Spurs could only muster a lacklustre 0-0 draw against the npower League One minnows.

Redknapp revealed after the match that he had been forced to exclude Luka Modric, Adebayor and Benoit Assou-Ekotto due to a mixture of injury and illness.

Modric has been suffering from flu all week and missed the game while Assou-Ekotto underwent an operation last Monday to cure a groin problem.

Adebayor, meanwhile, twisted his knee in training last Friday, and is now a major doubt for Sunday's game against his former employers at the Emirates Stadium.

Rafael van der Vaart and Sandro both missed the game at the Lamex Stadium and are doubts for next weekend - something Redknapp could do without considering how important the match is to Tottenham's season.

"Benoit had a small operation at the start of the week so he wasn't available," Redknapp said.

"He should be fit but we will have to see with Adebayor. He did his knee on Friday morning. He twisted it. We thought he might have opened his ligament up but it's not too bad.

"Luka had an unbelievable temperature. He was really ill this week. That left us short. Ledley King was on the bench and he wasn't fit.

"Niko Kranjcar had been rough all week as well. He only came in and trained (on Saturday)."

Redknapp's men would take a huge step towards guaranteeing Champions League qualification with a win over their bitter rivals, who are in the midst of a poor run of form and 10 points behind Spurs with 13 games to go.

Despite Arsenal's poor displays of late, Tottenham know they will have to up their game considerably if they are to beat Arsene Wenger's side next weekend.

Luka will have reovered from the flu by next Sunday I am sure. Benni and Adebayor will probably make it by the sound of what Redknapp was saying there. Sandro and VDV doubtful.

So I would expect us to still put out the same team that played Newcastle. Arsenal have plenty of injury concerns too.

I reckon Adebayor and Modric will be ok, not sure on Ekotto and god knows about Sandro. I can see Rafa missing out also really.

It would be good to have them think Luka and Adebayor won't play only for them to see the team sheet and see them both playing, with VDV appearing also. We'll see.

What's wrong with Lennon, VDV and Sandro? Any chance of them being fit for this game?

Edit: Nvmd Lennon came on yesterday, forgot about that lol.

I'm guessing they will ALL be available. Only injured players we will have will be Gallas, Huddlestone and Bentley

Friedel
Walker Kaboul King Asso-Ekotto
Parker Modric
Lennon VDV Bale
Adebayor
Subs: Cudicini Dawson Rose Sandro Kranjcar Defoe Saha (Res: Neslson Livermore)

Hope so, I'd be very confident of us winning with that. It would be a difficult choice to leave out Sandro or Kranjcar if they are fit though.

Think it is scaremonger journalism to be honest.

If we have a full strength side, we should go with the team that beat Norwich, with Sandro and Parker holding. That will stop Song from threading ball's through the Van Persie and the wingers, which he is brilliant at, and should give us enough cover to double up on their wingers when necessary. In addition, Lennon never has particularly good games against Arsenal, especially at their place, anyway

I reckon they'll all be fit, VDV being the only real doubt. Personally just think Harry was trying to deflect a little, with the timing of those comments, given yesterday's performance.
