I think he has done a remarkable job taking a championship side (with one major addition this season, Ben Afra, who is injured) to 7th in the premier league.

Maybe he was the reason for spurs sucess under Martin Jol.

He's good.
Underated for his role with us and singled out for some unfair criticism by some of our fans he should have a good future in management and it will be to Newcastle's misfortune if they don't recognise what a good manager he is.

7th in the league means nothing at this stage with the table the way it is, and PL promotion is not reflective of the qualities needed for sustained PL management.

That said, I very much hope he does well. Newcastle is one of those teams who should be playing in the PL. I've always felt that. The size of their fan base, their stadium, It fits with the PL.

West Ham on the other hand, fuck 'em. ;)

Well pleased for him. Most want Newcastle to crumble under him, but i'm pleased how well he's done. Not least with Ashley as chairman.

Yep, very pleased for him, he deserves a lot of credit for not only stabilising the club but moving them forward.

Agree with the other comments about being underrated by a small section of our fans.

Such a lengthy service shows that behind the scenes he must have been thought very highly of. It's a shame our Spanish revolution seemed to think they had better. Good luck to him. v

Think you missed an o in the thread title

Good yes, god no.

If he got Newcastle into the top 10 this season, was given a new contract and then got them into Europe, would we want him back as manager if 'Arry got the England job in 2012? Have to say I'd definitely consider him an option.

Lulz.

That Newcastle team was always a Prem team but they were screwed by affairs off the pitch. The best thing Newcastle did was retain most of the team that went down. Fuck all to do with Hughton.

The player's hair styles remain in the eighties. Other than that, young Chris San is merely on secondment learning the ways on the long road to managing a proper Club.

I think Hughton has done a good job but lets not go ott.

Seventh is a good start for them but it's a long season and it's too early to judge him. Remember the plaudits Phil Brown got when Hull had a great start?

If Hughton deserves a pat on the back, what does it say for Di Matteo?

Di Matteo has also done a terrific job, at least as good a job as Hughton's done. Both fall slightly behind Holloway in terms of achievements so far though if we're comparing the promoted managers.

Nobody would've ever thought that Blackpool would have beaten Derby's worst ever points tally after only 10 games!

I actually think DI Matteo is doing the best out of all of them, but good to see all doing reasonably well though.

I cannot see Blackpool maintaining this level, probably same goes for West Brom too.
