Are there occasions when he shoots when he should pass?
Yes

Would encouraging him to get his head up help?
Probably

Is it possible that asking him to think about that might mean he stops shooting and scoring so often?
Yes

Do I want that?
No

Kane is a bit too greedy at times. I don't mind that. His goals record speaks for itself and he's young, his decision making will improve.

He does need to improve his finishing though. A strange thing to say given the goals he scores but he also seems to fluff quite straightforward opportunities fairly regularly. He has the capacity to be world class and he will be if he finds that real cutting edge.

Can he improve his judgment on when to pass or shoot? Sure.

Too greedy? Joint highest goal scorer in the league cannot be denied.
Basically this.

Yes, he is greedy. I am sure there are times when if he passed instead of shot, we may have scored a goal when we otherwise didn't. And when that happens, it can be frustrating at the time.

But over the course of a whole season, his greediness gets us more goals than it loses. He scored 31 goals last year and on course for mid-20s this year. He is the best goalscorer we have had in a while, and a lot of that comes from shooting on sight - think how many he scores from around the edge of the box.

I wouldn't want Poch to try and coach that out of him.

I'm not a complainer by nature....but I see this unpleasant aggressive stuff bolded above and ask ..Why ? Here is a level headed
sensible thread discussing a football matter...good points made on all sides....

....and then in steams Mr fury above , pouring out malice and bile for no obvious reason . Someone could be offended and the thread may go down the tedious tit for tat route .

I must be losing my testosterone supply , cos I just don't understand the need for this sort of unpleasantness .

I rarely shout abuse in the match threads if that's what you meant but I do like a good rant every now and then. I find it cathartic.

Apologies for any offence but it's a special kind of stupid to complain about. Its like having the world's fittest girlfriend and complaining because she sucks your knob too often. I'd wager Arsenal fans would give anything to have a player with his greedy streak.

But if it's to the detriment of the team then it could be an issue. Obviously I think Kane is an absolute boss in front of goal but I think there's a difference between being a great finisher (Defoe) and someone that is able to find the best option for the team.

If you rewatch the highlights on BBC Iplayer you'll probably see the instances I'm talking about.

Ask Arsenal fans if they would want someone who shoots on sight rather than passing the ball round the edge of the box.

I was talking to my Arsenal mates the other day... They were slating giroud hard, they really are frustrated with their team. I said for jokes I feel sorry for Ozil due to his wasted passes and how they are jealous off Kane..

They said..

"Yeah that's why Robs mugging us, but it's true though, I'd we had Kane we would win the league"

For the record almost all my mates are Arsenal and they rate Kane in the highest regard. They also said they should of offered 70m for Suarez instead of the 40m and 1p offer, here not all but most of them said if they was paying 70 mil right now, they would rather try for Kane!

Yes he is greedy but am I worried? No! The great goal scorers were all greedy bastards. I have seen Greaves and Chivers, Archibald, Linekar, Klinsmann for Spurs plus van Nistlerooy, Fowler, Shearer, Wright, Cole etc etc....all greedy buggers. That's what you need to be a top gun striker. Kane is in that class.

Had almost the same conversation. They'd like alli or a lampard type aswell.

The failure to square to coco at 1nil vs Villa was shocking, Lamela was a yard clear of his runner.

Your obviously the retard for having a problem with the best striker we have had in years, so go find something else to moan about you wannkstain

Not sure how I can take someone so uneducated seriously but I'll try because clearly your comprehension skills are lacking.

I have no problem with Kane, I love the bloke but I'm asking others where they feel he should be looking to be more of a team player as opposed to shooting on sight at every opportunity. Not sure why you find that so hard to understand.

I know there are definitely times he could have passed, didn't and we didn't score but I'm sure there are plenty of times where he has scored and had he passed we wouldn't have. Its nearly impossible to work out the effect on the team without looking at the other side of it.

Fair enough and good point.

He is what he is. And that's one of the best striker we've had in about 20 years.

Plus, he'll get better. Something the likes of Berbatov didn't have the potential to do with us.
