Is height important if you want to head the ball?

Head, height?

Its going to be a long day.....
There probably isn't much in it when you compare being 5'.10" to, say 6'.4". But when you go shorter or taller then it probably makes a difference. If you are a 6'6" defender, running backwards, and a ball is being lobbed over you at a height of 6'6" then I'd say you got more chance of intercepting it than a 5'.10" defender running backwards.
That's why tall full backs are popular with some managers/coaches.
But yes generally technique, jumpability, will be important!

Sir Les was only 5 10 and had an amazing leap, probably the best I've seen. But him, Mabbutt, Cahill etc are not the norm - a good big un beats a good little un most times...
