Is it time to start relegating ref's?

It seems to me like ref's get away with murder. All they have to do is justify their actions but claiming thats not how they saw it etc.

If a rugby ref can spot a problem in a pile of 12 massive blokes and a cricket ref can spot the slightest touches from a 90mph ball then football ref's have no excuses for the shear amount of terrible decisions.

I personally would like to see a points system much like how the league works. If a ref does well he gets 3 points, does ok 1 point, does rubbish 0 points and the bottom 3 or so refs at the end of the season get relegated to league two or something.

If they really want to stay reffing the top games in the top league then this is the sort of thing that needs to be put in place, not only will the worse get relegated but it will shame those who finish low in the table.

Tony Pulis suggested it the other day, not necessarily points based but a reviewal/relegation system at the end of each season, and I'm all for it.

I'd also like it to be easier for clubs to protest against the allocation of referees to their games because of past errors. That way we'd never have Webb ref us ever again, or Clangerburg reffing us against one of the old guard.
