Is Kaboul now our No1 Centre back?

So looks like King is going to be out for a while. But to be honest I am not too concerned as for me Kaboul has stepped up this season and is quite rightly our first choice centre back. For me its Kaboul and one other of King, Gallas, Dawson..............Bassong.

I think we have all had our doubts at some point with regards to Kaboul but this season he has been superb and deserves every accolade that has come his way.

He has everything and has age on his side and is only going to get better.

P.s. Like alot of our top players he needs a better song!!!!

A fit Ledley will always be number one, but seeing as he's injured (again), yes, Younes is number one. Gallas is getting older, Bassong isn't very good and Dawson is pretty average. King and Kaboul are class.

Kaboul has everything but still has lots to learn and work on before he'll be a no1

Tall, powerful, fast, great in the tackle, wins everything in the air, reads the game pretty well now, can pass, can run with the ball out of defence, doesn't get turned, good man marker, good concentration, doesn't commit many foul, and stays fit.

He is the man to build our defence around. Only two years left on his contract end of this season. We must sort this out. BAE only has one year, now I think of it, that has to be sorted too. And Lennon I think only has two years remaining as well. Fuck.

In a word - yes!

King is undisputably our most talented CB but he's not the future of the club and we certainly can't build a solid defensive unit around him.

If Dawson stays fit I still see him as our captain and leader for the next 4/5 years

WAsnt he dropped for Gallas a few games back when King and GAllas started? Not sure if its a good or bad thing, but we have 4 CBs who can genuinely play and not make us noticably weaker.
I would probably have Kaboul and King as out 1st Choice, and I think Dawson is better than Gallas. But Gallas is a No 1 tyoe defender, and Dawson is a No 2 type defender, if you know what I mean. Dawson isnt the organising, leader type CB, but beside King he is a better bet than Gallas beside King. However, if asked to lead the line with Bassong for talks sake, he would not be as effective.

There is sense in there somewhere, I'm just having difficulty expressing it.

Kabould always looks class alongside King or Gallas but has looked occassionaly suspect when partnered with anyone else (same can be said of Daws).

The big difference is that I have seen a real marked improvement from Kaboul this season and he is fast becoming our CB of choice.

I still think he has a little to learn, especially when he needs to be the leader at the back, but performance wise recently he is looking quality and importantly is upping his consistency.

Gallas and King will be phased out and Daws should become our Nr1 sub CB assuming we can bring in another CB of real quality.

I only struggle with the prospect of Kabout and Daws as our ideal partnership as I am unsure over leadership at the back as both can be a little gung ho at times (Daws more than Kaboul) and you need that steadying hand that King provides.

It should not be understimated how mcuh King helps other players performa s well as his own abilities.

Low aspirations? He's no Vidic/Kompany/Vermaelan. We should be aiming at for the top, and Dawson sadly is not a top defender. Kaboul is already better than him.

So Kaboul is our Vidic/Kompany/Vermaelan?

And Dawson is one of the other CB's who aren't at that level but still good, as all those other clubs also have as part of their squads... a K Toure, Lescott, Koscielny, Agger, Skrtel... and so on... many names that don't get the juices flowing either but are important to their respective clubs.

Although, shit, I just realised, he's a sub-Johnny Evans...

Seeing as Kaboul is now so good, and King is a semi-fit demi-god how is having Dawson in our squad a signal of 'low aspirations'?

And who are we going to sign who we can afford who will walk in and take our aspirations that bit higher up to your standards, being that we also need players in attacking positions on our limited budget?

He also has a wicked shot.
If only he could actually hit the target once. I cringe when I see him line up to take free kicks, it never ends well.

But over the last couple of years he has developed into a top class CB.

He also has a wicked shot.

Think that's a bit too kind on him, he hits the ball with tremendous power but doesn't have a great shot as he doesn't know where the ball's going. He's scored with his feet, what, once for us?

As for the Q - he's who we'll build our defense around for sure. I'm comfortable with him and Dawson, delighted with him and King of course, and it sounds pretty decent with someone like Cahill or even Samba next to him as well...

At least once or twice a game he fouls the player in front of the box and gives away a dangerous freekick. If he can curtail that, then yes I think he would be.

When Kaboul can carry someone like Bassong and still keep a clean sheet then he'll be no.1

At the moment he's looking good alongside King which to be fair everyone else has done.
