i suppose its time to give out the neg rep

Oh please anything but that!:shake:

Look if you don't agree don't post, we're all entitled to our opinion. Maybe the title of the thread is a bit extreme, but the point I'm trying to make is that I feel that Luka going to Chelsea at this present time is a bigger insult to our club than Sol going to Arsenal in 2001.
There isn't much between us and Chelsea in my opinion and keeping players like Modric will have us ahead of them in a couple of years, hopefully!
In 2001 we were shit, struggling to make mid table and even flirting around them bottom a couple of seasons before. Did Sol Campbell really do anything that wasn't in the best interests of his football career?
Granted we'll get a big lump of money for Modric but I'd rather have him than the money!

Don't think so. Modric is not deceiving Spurs fans; Campbell went out of his way to put out lies and misinformation before expressing incredulity that anybody was upset he joined Arsenal. I'll never forgive him for that.

Worse at what, hanging from a tree?

For the avoidance of all doubt, that is a reference to Judas.

Hold on! I'm not trying to stage a Sol love in. He will always be a wanker as far as I'm concerned. But I reckon that Luka will be a bigger wanker!

Look if you don't agree don't post, we're all entitled to our opinion.

You asked a question in your thread title. You then say "if you don't agree...don't post" before saying that "we're all entitled to our opinion."

So in other words you're saying "we're all entitled to our opinions, but if I ask a question on a public forum and you don't agree with my answer to that question, then don't post".

Luka grew up in Croatia. RSol was supposedly a spurs fan. In future please dont mention their names in the same sentence.

agreed, besides to the fact, Modric could have at most two or three clubs which he can discuss a move to them, because he belongs to us and big offer needed to persuad us to sell him.

Sol was wanted be number of top clubs, including Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Valencia, Inter & Juvi, he decided to join Arsenal, how on the earth you are comparing both, since the other fact he signed 6 year deal which protect you to get a money to move on !!

Unless the OP is 18-20 years old and doesn't remember what happened with that scumbag back in 2001 this is an absolutely idiotic thread.

Anyone who knows a smidgen of knowledge on either situations knows they bear hardly any resemblance whatsoever. That utter utter bastard Campbell shafted us massively, financially and emotionally.

One to be moved and locked (in my humble opinion).

to the original poster, i am not sure why some deem this thread unconstructive, you have posed a question and by some of the responses you can clearly see that Sol leaving was greater hurt (if i can put it that way). Sol was english, came through our youth system, was made our captain, was the rock in our defence and then left us on a free for our biggest rivals, the manner in which it was announced as well. he kind of gave us the middle finger, he thought of no one but himself. i am a foreign based spurs supporter and never been WHL but i felt the pain from where i am.

Luka has been civil, i understand his ambitions and if those words in the Daily Mail are indeed his firstly, he at least has been open and honest. very different to what Judas did.

Spurs have a long history of losing their top players to other teams...think Wadddle, Gascoigne, Klinsmann, Sheringham, Carrick etc. We will always have to accept that unless we suddenly become European heavyweights.

What is important is the manner in which the player conducts himself around the negotiating transfer that really gets to fans. The only one that comes close to Sol was Berbatov who effectively went on strike at the start of the season to engineer his move and nearly cost us our Premier League status as a result.

Modric? No...not even close.

I think you've lost sight of the fact that no one is 100% sure that Modric has even made these statements. If this Agent bloke has been the instigator of this then it may well be that he's asked Luka leading questions and used the answers out of context to engineer exactly this scenario.

Just enough truth to avoid legal action but nowhere near the full story.

Might I suggest we wait until Modric himself comes back from holiday, to either corroborate or refute, before we find the nearest stout limb to hang him from?

I know he said he wouldn't, but you can't argue that he went onto better things! Given the relatively small gap between us and Chelsea, in spite of all their money, what does Luka really achieve, the champions league thing is not nailed on at any club. It all comes down to money.

No one has ever said he didnt.
What he did, with all the lying shenanigans, was put our club back 2 years.

Simple answer - no. Sol said until the bitter end that he was staying then walked out and, not only that, went to the club he knew would give us the biggest kick in the nuts. He lied throughout and the turned and gave the bird. If the reports are to be believed, at least Luka is being honest about his desire to leave - for the, that's the difference.
