Is Sherwood the worst manager we've had?

Terry Neill. Ex captain of Norn Iron and erstwhile international team mate of Pat's
would have quite easily have been able to turn PJ's head.

He was a cult player at Spurs and he went on to further glories with the Northern Ireland team in their
World Cup escapades but carried on playing as a true pro even for the Woolwich.

Terry Neill's mission was nearly completed by 1975 but for a last gasp 4-2 win over dirty Leeds
which meant Luton Chelsea & Carlisle got relegated.

The team ended up in 9th the next season 75/76 but like all the teams this one was breaking up and in July 1976 Neill went back to Woolwich getting a heroes welcome for the sabotage he achieved. PJ followed shortly afterwards and Keith Burkinshaw took the reins for 76/77, first PJ went to Seven Dials FC
but alas the damage was done, holed below the waterline my beloved Spurs sank into the old Div.2. (Which admittedly was fun)

In true Tottenham form having been near or at the top of division two it ended up being a last gasp mad scramble and depended on other results. (Normal ?)

Funnily enough when KB walked/was pushed out of Spurs in 1984 (30 yrs) he commented with a parting statement "There used to be a football club there"

Good man yerself KB. Gave us our Tottenham back and many Wembley trips for the memories.

And PJ is still one of my all time heroes. Those one handed catches !

Thanks. Great recall and memories.

That win over Leeds that relegated Chelsea...........was that one where we spilled onto the pitch at the end celebrating?

Having a chat with a Soton fan at work who said to me 'I don't think Sherwood has said anything that Delia Smith couldn't have managed at half time' and found it hard to disagree...

It is alleged that some several thousand delighted fans went onto the pitch, not me though - My Lois jeans were brand new and I didn't want to get them dirty.

No manager can guarantee instant success, maybe Tim will get it right and make it work. Harry's quoted as saying we should stick with him, teddy Sheringham even made a point of saying he's the right man for the job right at the end of soccer am. Fergie was shit when he started at Man U...but then we need someone like lvg to lay the foundations for something special so that We can be seriously challenging and be taken seriously cos let's face it, we are a laughing stock right now.

Harry and Sheringham are mates with him, their opinions are biased and invalid.

You can't compare him to Fergie.

Fergie managerial honours pre United:

St. Mirren
Aberdeen
Sherwood managerial honours pre-Spurs:

...

Sherwood isn't just judged for our performances on the pitch (which have been mixed at best, to say the least), he's also judged for his abysmal and embarrassing behavior and statements.

While his tenure was very short, like to give special mention to Santini. I'm still baffled by his tactics, especially regarding full backs. When our full backs had space to roam into quick counter attack they always stopped on somewhere near the halfway line and killed the attack. They weren't allowed to take any risks and always stayed rather deep, well we weren't taking risks on any front and his tenure makes this autumn with AVB look like a goalfest. On his 11 PL games we scored 6.

How many times has Ossie been mentioned in this thread?

Taking account mere league results, three worst resultwise have been Ossie, Santini and Ramos. But Ramos got League Cup to compensate for getting beaten by about anyone in the league. And when comparing Ardiles and Santini, at least former brought in goals. Santini would win hands down against pretty much anyone had his tenure been bit longer so that he would actually be remembered.

Christian.
Gross.
OI, NOOOOOO!!!

Christian gross was stitched up and was unfairly treated by the media and fans alike.

He was good manager and just as he started to get his style in place he got sacked, he inherited a team that was absolutely distraught after Francis. He wasn't supported by the chairman (Sugar, sounds familiar), his coaching staff were refused work permits and the media and fans mocked him relentlessly.

Christian Gross, was a not a mistake, the mistake was not actually supporting him, a current theme that still runs today.

But they are just supporting their mates though, ain't they.

You only have to look at what is happening on the pitch to know, you are better off flogging a dead donkey.

But I agree with the rest though.
