Is Son Heung-min now the talisman at Tottenham?

During the summer, the discourse around Tottenham centred on the future of Harry Kane. However, the England captain remaining in North London may not have been the best piece of business conducted by Daniel Levy. It went slightly under the radar, but Son Heung-min agreed a new contract with the club.

Of course he is - the symbol of loyalty and a bond with the club. Arguably one of the best AM in the world, he goes about his business without any fuss or attention-seeking.

Harry Kane is now just an employee, one of many mercenaries and not a symbol or talisman by any stretch of the imagination. And to me he hasn't been one for well over a year.

Each to their own then, Son and Kane are the clubs talismen for me. I dont think its fair to label Kane a mercenary, he's a top player who wants to win things but has been mis advised.

Even without taking loyalty into account, I feel we suffer more as a team with Son injured than with Kane injured. We need his off-ball movement and pace combined with finishing ability to give our team balance and threat.

Sonny is not a talisman. Far too hot & cold

Absolutely unplayable at times but that’s not too often. Really good player though but not a world class player & talisman like Kane

Son Is a spurs antidote. Exciting and fun to watch.

When he's not in the side you can really tell. He is a talisman for the club for sure.

But kane is still talismanic. Always will be.

I think that it's safe to say that Son is assured of legend status at Spurs.

Nah. Look at what Kane has achieved and in one summer its all forgotten and the majority think he's a piece of shit. I dont, he's a legend to me, as is Son, but if he asked to leave next Summer he'd be scum in the eyes of some.

He has had plenty of opportunities with us and co-failed. As to the advice bit, surely he does have a brain of his own.

Yeah, but opinion has to be based on fact not fantasy. he could have won plenty with us, so that argument flies out of the window.
Listen mate, If I say to me he is a talisman and not a mercenary I dont expect someone to keep insisting that my opinion of him should agree with theirs. I dont need to change your opinion or tell you what it should be, so buzz off OK?

The fact still remains that Kane has been a shadow of himself since his move to City fell through. Given his contributions for this club, I'm perfectly fine with him pursuing his dream and will always wish him well. However, to suggest that Son and Kane are currently both worthy of the the 'talisman' title is simply false.

Past seasons aside, out of the two players only ONE has stepped up - and that's Son Heung Min. Now I certainly hope that changes and both of them kick butt but for now, I gotta go a little Crimson Tide on this:

"We have stats that are not subject to interpretation, gut feelings, hairs on the back of our necks, little angels and devils on our shoulders. We are perfectly aware of what they are and what they mean. They come directly from match statistics and they contain no ambiguity..."

I would have said that about Kane one year ago- but not now.
Sonny has been great and let's hope it continues- It's always how things end that see if he gets a legendary status as people like Gary Mabbutt, Steve Perryman and Michael Dawson all left us in a positive light and are seen a legends etc.
If Son leaves on positive terms, then I could see it happening- only then will we know

True. There's something about Son's character and the way that he conducts himself that suggests to me that even if he ended up wanting to leave that he would handle things the right way.
