I've taken a lot of shit for criticising Redknapp's ability as a coach, but two years ago after we played Barca in a friendly, Redknapp paid lip service to this "pressing" from the front, but has never coached it into us since. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the style of football you want to play, it is what separates top drawer side from the rest.

Our CM's have taken so much flack, but how can you shine in CM when your strikers and wide man make half arsed attempts to close down, which drags CM's all over the pitch, in turn exposing huge spaces in front of our defenders and making their job harder.

It's so naive to talk about being "open" and just an excuse for a lack of work on the training pitch.

But hopefully we have learnt this lesson on tuesday, and one that sticks with us.

No, you've taken a lot of shit for criticising him to such a hyperbolic nature that it turns into abuse- as it has for some of our players. It's as if you think you know better than him. Once you realise the meaning of moderation and stop talking shit, you can stop crying about 'taking shit'.

You're a small minded pedant who will never have the bollocks to admit when you are wrong, or that I am right.

Kettle, your'e black.

What's pedantry got to do with the chip on your shoulder that you are not a football professional and nowhere near as enlightened or educated as you make out?

When were you right and I was wrong?

When Lennon put in that goal to beat Chelsea at home, I thought that moment could never be bettered.

When Danny Rose hit that 40 yard volley, I thought that moment could never be bettered.

When Crouch scored at City and that section of Eastlands ERUPTED, I thought that moment could never be bettered.

When we demolished the reigning European champions at home, I thought that moment could never be bettered.

When we beat AC AT THE SAN SIRO, I thought that moment could never be bettered.

Spurs over the past few season have continued to amaze me. COYS.

the win against AC milan was good, but for me personally, coming back to beat Arsenal away 3-2 is a moment that will not be better'd. That feeling of jubilation, for a moment or 3, made up for the years of stick we Spurs fans have endured since the end of Bruce Rioch's reign.

Oh, and thanks Walworthyid for reminding me of Ledley's tackle on Robben. When i reminisce about our King, that will be my stand out memory, and i will never forget the feeling that overcame me at that moment.

Nice article mate.

Watching the Barca game the next day the thing that struck me first was the work-rate of David Villa and Messi

In dramatic contrast to Robinho and Ibrahimovic, who spent virtually the whole of the first half posing about waiting for the ball to be delivered to them on a plate. No wonder Barça gave Ibrahimovic the bum's rush. The guy makes Berbatov look like Roy of the Rovers.

In terms of pressing the ball Villa is nippier and more tenacious, especially since moving to Barca, where it is an art, but I was pretty impressed with Ibrahimovich's work rate.

Ibrahimovich may not be the nippiest or most tenacious, but he actually works pretty hard for a big fella. Him and Crouch, remarkably saw exactly the same amount of ball, 25/37, with Ibrahimovich making 1 tackle to Crouch's 0.

Villa does press well, but he by comparison, only saw less than half the ball of Ibrahimovich, 11/16 passes.
