This really doesn't surprise me although it disappoints me.

Football has been big business for some years now and it will grow even bigger where there's more profit to be made. Changes have already been made to accommodate TV contracts and we've had to adjust to those.

Money talks louder than anything else in sport nowadays so this will no doubt happen and there will be nothing we can do about it, even if we hate it.

I don't feel comfortable with it but who's going to care about my feelings - or yours?

That is what I was trying to say, I just lack your eloquance.

there has to be some sort of nationwide protest, perhaps even boycott games and not let them get the money they so desperately crave.

im speaking with bitterness, perhaps ignorance but i will always be against this.

Our beautiful game died when sky first took over the prem
It did?

Do you want to go back to; 22 Michael Brown playing against each other on muddy pitches and all the classplayers are playing in Serie A and La Liga.

That's the alternative.....sort of.

Oh God! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

*stops pannicking at new ideas and takes off retarded hat*

oh hang on, its not that bad an idea. So one game goes abroad? what does that matter? it gives others a chance to see what we love so much, gives our teams a chance to explore other areas of the world and opens a whole new element to our game.

Its only agreed in principle, its nowhere near being ready for action. there's a lot of ironing out to do (how it affects league standings and whotnot) and it may all pan out into nothing.

Lets just see what happens as it gets fleshed out

bloody foreigners steling our football

I think i'm the only one that can see the positives

1) were not having a game taken away from us, we're having one added!!! yey!!!

2) it's for the benefit of fans outside the UK, if UK fans want to travel then fine but fundamentally it's for overseas fans to see the premieriship and specifically see the team they follow. Only a selfish spurs fan would deny our forgien friends a competitive game. We all choose to brag about how big our support is outside the UK but then object when there is the opportunity to take the games to them?? for every fan who's ever had a debate with a wetspam or a barcodes fan about global support who is now in oppostion to this, shame on you for your hypocracy!

3) the fixture fairness and balance can be simply maintained and even the tickets sales allocations too. Pick the venues and dates prior to the season starting but only choose the fixtures on 31st December. The fixtures then become sequential in order of premiship placements on the 31st December, top to bottom. 1st plays 2nd, 3rd plays 4th etc... the weak/strong oppostion is then relative. the extra points are in direct competition with the teams you are competing for places with.

4) extra games?? We again moan about the players and managers moaning about their multi-million pound, 30 man deep squads complaining of fixture congestion. We want games!!!.. we hate the summer!!! we miss the games. we love chirstmas and new year... this summer will be all the worse becasue our country isn't at the tournament but now some are blindly using fixture congestion in opposition to an extra game? I say Bring it on. ... of the 20 league clubs the only 2 clubs at the end of the season that wouldn't choose to have and extra league game, and extra chance at 3pts are the champions and the team that avoids relegation. all the rest would love another game. 18-2.

yeah i agree

Ginola, cantona, henry, berdkamp, berbatov, Klinnsman the endless list of players coming over to a dead league and souless football, helping to drag it down from the heady height of the late 80's...

Oh how i miss Steven Sedgely, Mark Robbins, Mick quinn, Alan smith, Brain McClair. Oh how i miss classical two camera angles and seasonally affected pitches. When it was widely frowned apon to have CB's as quick as forwards.

DAM YOUS MURDOCK!!! DAM YOUS ALL TO HELL

Anybody who has commented on this disgraceful idea in any way positive has lost my complete and utter respect as a football supporter and a supporter of Spurs.

Interesting that the overseas types seem to be in the main the ones piping up about it being a good idea, you can fuck right off.

Every single supporters trust of all 20 prem clubs will be overwhelmingly against this as will the vast majority of regulars at their respective clubs.

We have put up with enough shit since the prem began, they can push us so far but they won't get away with this, we as fans have far more power than some of you seem to think, we can get rid of any money man we like, some of you probably don't remember 1991 but we had protests and pitch invasions, I personally like many others were actively involved and guess who won, yes us the supporters, Scholar had to go.

I dare the prem to do this, they'll wish they never had tried.

I think football is already further away from it's grass roots than many people realise..

Has anyone actually made a legitimate point why this is a bad idea?

So far all ive seen is cliches and knee jerks

MONEY! ROOTS! TRAITORS! RHUBARB RHUBARB RHUBARD!

One game goes abroad, no-one loses anything, no-one misses out and we bring our football to places that dont get it, exhibition games a la the NFL game at Wembley (which went well according to those in US, aside from ticket probs) can send the message that we have a great thing and ONE game for each team is not going to destroy the face of the game, there may be plenty wrong with football but this is barely a drop in my ocean of doubts.

My only concern is the fitting into a season and the workability of points etc which havent been worked on or even proposed!

Get a grip guys and calm down
