I really liked him in the World Cup but I haven't seen him play for his club at all though.

Has High/High workrates and 88 stamina on FIFA. That's a good sign.

But what's his shooting stats, that's the all important question!

Never heard of the guy so can't comment much, but we do need to find a hidden gem somewhere to play up top with/rotate with.

75 Finishing but 89 Heading Accuracy! Slow as fuck though.

Yeah, I liked him at the World Cup too, decent pace but also physical. Watched him a few times in the CL this season too and was equally impressed, although Nani looked amazing so I'm not going to get carried away.

Worth a punt if we can get rid of Ade/Soldado and he's available at a good price but at the moment none of that looks likely.

Awesome. I really like him. Sporting has several players that would be good fits here, I'm just unsure how happy they are with us after the Dier deal.

Scratch that, his release clause is widely reported at €30m.
Whomp whomp.

A deal could still be struck, but for whatever reason Portuguese sides are notorious for holding the release clause as the player's price tag.

That being said Slimani was trying to manufacture a move away from Sporting this summer (and later apologized) so it seems he can be persuaded.

I literally know nothing about this player but this is the type of signings we should be aiming for. The big clubs don't take enough risks on transfers that may or may not work out. Bony tore up the Eredivisie but no big club took a risk on him. Benteke was playing well in Belgium. The big clubs can't take risks on these type of players as they need players to make an immediate impact.
We can't compete with the big spenders in the league, so ultimately we may need to take a few more risks in the market on unearthed talent. Extensive scouting and with the use of a decent 'black box', we should be taking decent risks.

Third party ownership i think comes into play with a number of the Portuguese teams, so they hold out for the full amount of the release to ensure that they get something from the deal.

No idea if that is the case with this kid though....like you said a deal could still be struck.

He was incredible at the World Cup. I was so impressed. He scared the life out of Germany in their KO game.

It is not. Anyway, for the value mentioned in the press I think that the probability of this happening is close to zero.
