I remember that he went on a strike during summer transfer period when someone made a bid and Sporting held firm.

Along with his physical power and heading ability, his fitness level and 100% energy are his best strengths.

Although if these are the attributes we are after I would perhaps rather go for the monster that is Artem Dzyuba who is the same age (26). Power, pace, giant of a man (6ft4), stamina, shooting, heading: made for the Prem. Although likely high wage earner.

I literally know nothing about this player but this is the type of signings we should be aiming for. The big clubs don't take enough risks on transfers that may or may not work out. Bony tore up the Eredivisie but no big club took a risk on him. Benteke was playing well in Belgium. The big clubs can't take risks on these type of players as they need players to make an immediate impact.
We can't compete with the big spenders in the league, so ultimately we may need to take a few more risks in the market on unearthed talent. Extensive scouting and with the use of a decent 'black box', we should be taking decent risks.

And we don't?

Well we aren't a regular CL side and don't have the same amount of pressure as the likes of City and Chelsea. We can be afforded a season or two to bleed some players in. In Lamelas case, if Chelsea/City signed him and he performed the same as he is for us, then he'd probably have been shipped out by now. Whereas we can give players time.

Unless they happen to be strikers—especially strikers who cost upward of £20m.

Is it me, or are we making bids for a number of players at the moment and hoping one or two will come off, and are we going to get buggered if they all say yes before we've sold off enough of our existing squad in the first place?
