yeah but thee point is Berba will be sold for a little bit more I pressume, so they should balance each other out

Berabtov > Eto'o

Berbatov is worth more than Eto'o and i really hope we dont pay anywhere near what we are going to get for Berbatov for him! If Berbatov is worth 30million, i woudlnt pay over 20 for Eto'o

I disagree. The purpose of a striker is to score goals, so I reckon Eto'o > berbatov.

Berbatov has a more rounded game, and has some nice skills, but Eto'o is a proper striker.

Fair enough point, but Berabtov still gets the goals as well as also getting involved in build up play! and at the moemnt we need help in the build up as our midfield is.. well crap at doing that!

One thing we are missing is a proper striker who will put them away, Bent was meant to be that player i think, but hasnt really done it but with the squad we have just now i feel we need a Berabtov player more than an Eto'o just now, but might change with how Modric settles in and who else we get

yea I'd run down the street swinging my cock about in a helicopter-esq motion singing "we're gonna win the league".

Definitely get arrested (my road is kinda busy), but it'd be worth it.

Guys, sorry to dredge this one up, but it was the first Eto'o one that caught my eye...

Been thinking about all these stories about us looking to the sponsors to stump up half the sum of his annual wages in a kind of lump payment "bonus" at the end of the season, or something - can we even do that?

Surely, unless the sponsor first lent us the cash and we then used it to fund that bonus payment, it would be considered a joint ownership? And isn't that not allowed in England?

Dunno, just crossed my mind - someone correct me.

I thought the proposed dealio with Eto'o was that Puma would not pay part of his wage but would increase their annual payment to him so he could take a pay 'cut' in wages to join Spurs but would actually still make the same amount of money.

Nope, as long as the club owned the player's registration a third party could have a marketing rights deal.

For example, if Puma wanted Eto'o to be their UK figurehead for ad campaigns...

1) Agree a pre-contract agreement with Spurs detailing what they are willing to contribute toward a wage package, the terms, fee and conditions for exclusive image rights etc. in the UK.

1) The club would negotiate a deal to buy the player's registration from Barca.

2) We'd negotiate wages, offerring a package including the sponsor's clauses as to what is excpected in terms of public appearances, image rights etc.

3) The star player would be owned by Spurs, his wages would be paid directly by the club - as part of his contract he'd have commitments to the sponsor - who would pay the annual fee for the deal to the club.

Beckham's wages in the US are largely made up of such sponsorship deals - the difference being the US clubs are 'franchises' of the league and the MLS had involvement in setting the deal up.

I don't know if the Barca match was on tele this weekend but my mate went as part of a stag weekend and said that every player was booed solidly the whole 90 minutes, apart from Messi, whose every touch was applauded.

He said that Eto'o especially was wildly booed and the white flags were waved (not racial) every time he touched the ball. Probably more to do with his recent comments than the way he's been playing (which hasn't been very good this season by all accounts).

Ho hum.

I thought that after the whole Tevez/Mascherano saga the Premier League admitted that third party ownership in itself was not illegal in itself but that West Ham had not disclosed these details to the Premier League.

Yes and he showed his frustration after he scored by smashing the ball into the net and screaming in anger. I don't blame him, those fans are ****s
