I guess "Barna" is "Barca". However, I checked all the major futbol websites in Espana and found nothing on there about Eto'o - the main story being that Barca is competing with Real over signing Villa.
Makes on wonder if Barca rather see Villa replace Eto'o (which I believe is down to the attitude of Eto'o).

Madrid Spur from FTL:

Eto'o defo on allegedly.

Marca has a full page on him coming to us.

We have a meeting next week in Barna to negotiate the deal. He is interested and so are Barca. This from Marca

I spoke last night to a couple of people who agreed/confirmed that it is a strong possibility.

All depends on the deal we offer and of course how much we get for Berbs......

Nothing in the on-line version of Marca - anyone in Spain able to confirm this?

I dont get the Eto'o thing. I dont think he could play with Keane. Keane being small fast and tricky, he needs someone next to him who can win headers and hold the ball up. We've all seen over the last few seasons that we've got the best out of Keano when he's been alongside Berba or Mido, but he's been pants with Defoe. So what type of player is Eto'o? It's the same with Villa. Milito however, would make sense.

Saying that, the little and large thing was a Jol preference. Ramos might have different ideas. Plus, Man Utd seem to be doing ok without a big striker.

While maintaining required respect to ITKs, does Madrid Spur just read out what is printed in Marca?

I effectively see Bent as being Mido & Defoe rolled into one, and I think he's likely to be able to forge a good partnership wih Keane.

He may not be as 'good' as Eto'o on paper, but I think he could be more effective in a partnership in the PL.

I agree. Bent will definatley get us alot of goals and him and Keane could really complement each other. The only worry is that Bent lacks that bit of inspiration that Berba has which can change a game in an instant. Hopefully we will bring in someone in midfield to fill that void. It'll be nice to have someone up front will real pace as well.

BTW I used to go uni in Northants. Did stuarding at the Cobblers a fair bit, never went to see the Saints though.

Yea I think that has been a bit of a worry, but lets not forget we were good before we had Berbatov, it's just we had Carrick for the 'inspiration'

Hopefully Modric will take the place of the inspiring one, and Bent/Keane can focus on what they do best - hitting the back of the net.

I was born in Northampton but only lived there untill I was 5ish, but the family links remain strong. I have a Cobblers scarf tied at one side of my bed, opposite my Tottenham one!

I too am not overly excited about the prospect of signing Eto'o, he's not the player he was 1/2 yrs ago.. And I think Bent can do a brill job for us up next to Keane, he needs games and confidence, he wins headers, and is good on the deck too, its just he's got that bloody no.23 shirt aint he?? Spurs should retire that number, it never works out great for us in the end!!!

I'm currently eating a Ginger and Choc cookie... is awesome.

On another note - of course Eto can work with Keane.

All this big/small is just a hang over from the Jol days. We'll lose creativity with Berbs going, but hopefully Ramos's new midfield will provide the creativity.

Eto'o can hold the ball up. He's good in the air but better on the ground which is where Keane plays best being 5' fuckall". I'd rather we played the ball on the ground with a team of dwarfs than have Robbo & Daws hoof it up all the time. Those tossers!

Keane not being able to play with Defoe was a direct result of Defoe trying to expand his game to get in the England squad. He's a finisher/ poacher. Counldn't link up if he had Kaka and Messi on either side of him. He'd score shitloads tho'.

If you want to see how good Eto'o is watch the Real Baca match tonight 9pm on SS and hopefully he'll get a run out.

If you want a post player why not use Pekhart the biggest lump of a forward I've seen since Carew and Koller. Shit if you want to bounce a ball off him for Keane then he's ideal. He won't need skill; just run along the offside line waiting to get hit with the ball so Keane can run onto it.

Bent can play with Keane, but Eto'o can't?. are you having a laugh? Im pretty sure Eto'o is taller than Bent too.

I just hope we get him.

On his day he's one of the best finishers in the business, he would be our terry henry.

Depends where you look: some list both Bent and Eto'o at 5'11"

I get the Eto idea... not sure i really think we'll pull it off.. but i do get it. Modric as a no.10 and Eto upfront.
I don't think Keane being in a spurs strongest XI next season is as much a foregone conclusion as lots think it is.

If i remember rightly Eto'o is 5' 11"

Height isn't the be all and end all Sir Les was only 5' 11" and he managed to dominate the air while Crouch and others like him Zigic, and the Czech fella are 6' 6" + but can't jump more than an inch off the ground.
