Do you not think this "quality" thing is very subjective. The top 4 tops in the EPL have massive resources at their disposal yet despite this have managed one flook CL in recent years and Boro's crazy run to the final of UEFA.

The rest of our league is very ho-hum in terms of footballing quality. Watching teams like Portsmouth, Blackburn, Everton for example (all high up in the EPL) is like watching superfit park football at times (but less exciting) the technique on display is woeful and tactics just plain boring. Everton and Portsmouth it's mostly get 10 behind the ball and break. And Blackburn it's lets kick fuck out of the opposition until we scare them into losing.

Do you not think that the technical level of the teams in Seri A is not on the whole superior to most of whats on offer in the EPL. I don't mean excitement, and I appreciate that the quality of the premiership is as good as it's ever been. But considering the money available now to even the lowest teams it should be pissing every league in the world.

Yes I quality is very subjective.

I actually think it is a bit of a myth that the technical ability of Serie A is higher than that of the EPL. Its more that some of the top players have a bit more tactical awareness, but that is certainly not to say it is the way of the league. Even at the World Cup, Italy played some pretty poor football on the whole, they robbed Australia with a joke of a pen in the 95th minute, struggled against the USA. They seem to have a mentality to win, certainly the national team anyway.

That doesn't quite carry over to the club football at the moment. Unfortunately they just don't have the money to keep up. A lot of the squads are filled with very average players and the standard of the football is not very good. I was shocked the first game I went to, because I was expecting patient well thought up build up play with defensive maturity. What I found was scrappy football, with a real lack of attacking inginuity and it was really pretty passionless. There are also some serious, serious problems with the security/attendance of matches and to be honest people are concerned about the state of the game over here. My local team Udinese are one of the better footballing sides, but I wouldn't fancy there chances against a single Premiership team except Derby and maybe Fulham.

I do expect things to get better though. I think the competitiveness of the league especially after Juve getting relegated, Milan losing points made it less of a spectical. I expect Juve to be much stronger next year and I expect Inter to maybe have a proper team if Mourinho is going to be there. Milan have a lot of work to do but I don't really see Ronaldinho fitting in with the plans. They need an out and out goalscorer, a keeper, some legs in midfield and practically a whole new defence.

However, the European champions' chief executive Adriano Galliani told Sky Italia: "Maybe Ronaldinho won't come and a main striker arrives."

Berba to Milan, Ronaldinho to Spurs?

I severely don't believe there's any truth in the story, but to afford him this would be the likliest scenario I feel.

I do tend to agree with one comment though, I can't see him wanting to join any club where he travels up to a wet and windy Wigan on a monday night to get booted off the park.

If we get him, we may not need to sign a left side wide man. Ronnie can play the free role up front but operating mainly on the left like he had been doing in Barca. A front 3 of Ronnie, Berba and lennon would be a handful for any defence.

Sadly I suspect that this sort of signing will be beyond us because of the greater financial clout of the likes of Inter, AC Milan and the Russians.

I suppose it's good that we're going for these sorts of players but I just can't see us stumping up the sort of cash that Ronnie would want.

Sorry, I was playing "catchphrase" - say what you see!

And 'tard wasn't aimed at you directly, just anyone who is anything like you. Think of yourself as the benchmark.

I am just playing with him. It started a while ago when he took an innocent comment really personally, since then I have just been baiting him, and he has biten every time. Even stooped to the normal "racist" comments inspite of me wanting to sign a latino!

Fun was had, nothing personal intended.

I hope you're being sarcastic! We've got 3 of the best goalscorers in the league, some SKILL in midfield (plenty of legs already!), and one centre back (hardly a "whole new defence")... all we need from that list is a keeper!

(if you were being sarcastic, apologies!)

Yeah, kind of. More 'pissed' (pool night at the local) than sarcastic although the two tend to blur into one with me.

Partly true, though. We need a keeper (or two...?), a CB, possibly a LB depending on whether Gilberto/BAE make it, yeah - more skill than legs needed but meant we need midfielders in general - like I said...:beer::beer:

Goalscorer? Well, ATM no but Berba could well leave & would need replacing, although I admit its as much his creativity we'd miss as his goals.

Plus, making the point that ol' bucktooth isn't exactly a priority. Not that we shouldn't sign him, I'd be delighted if we did & not just because my mate bet me an all expenses paid trip to WHL for a game if Ronaldinho signed for us. He's a York City fan so my end of the bet is much cheaper!

Basically, to cut a long story short...erm...'The End'.

Sorry, but I gonna have to object to people who continuously make these kind of comments.

Football is football, you get kicked whoever and wherever you play. You watch Italian and Spainish football, you will see players (Ronaldinho included) being kicked left, right and centre there aswell.

Plus, if he did goto Milan, the weather is as unpredictable and cold there as it is here sometimes. Up North you get snow, wind, torrential rain and all sorts of weather conditions.

Its football, England is one of the best leagues in the World, with some of the the best players. He isnt going to dismiss coming to England because of the threat of being kicked and being a bit cold.

I'm not saying he is gonna come, not to us anyway. But his reason for not, will certainly not be for the reason you and others state.

Man City Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson could have a mouthwatering attacking line-up next season as City believe they can successfully re-enter the race to sign Ronaldinho after a breakdown in negotiations between Barcelona and AC Milan. (Daily Telegraph)

If Man City can try to sign him so can we?

City hold Ronaldinho talks - sky sports

Executive director claims discussions have taken place

Manchester City executive director Taweesuk Jack Srisumrid has claimed that the club have held talks over a deal for Barcelona star Ronaldinho.

The 28-year-old Brazilian appeared to be set for a summer transfer to Serie A side Milan, however reports claim a deal has stalled.

City have also been linked with the former World Player of the Year, but manager Sven Goran Eriksson has been keen to delay talk of a move until the season has concluded.

However, it is reported in Tuesday's press that Ronaldinho's brother and agent Roberto de Assis met with Taweesuk over a deal.

Galacticos

"What we will look to do in the summer is to further boost the squad, bring in top-quality, internationally recognised players," Taweesuk told The Daily Telegraph.

"Superstars would help fill the stadium and help our global branding. Primarily, we must win on the pitch - it can't be a gimmick.

"We've had discussions [with Ronaldinho] but we'll see how that pans out.

"We've looked at a host of players. Man City having discussions with superstar players used to be unimaginable, but not now.

"It won't be a galacticos strategy, but older famous names. We want to build around the team we have."
