Regardless of whether we make top 4 this season we now have a nucleus of players that want to play for Spurs and the manager.

We seem to have found a 30 goal a season striker that wants to play for us and he's one of our own

We have 2 midfielders (Mason and Bentaleb) that look the real deal and they are our own as well.

We have a good young manager who plays positive football

We have some of the most promising youngsters around.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks there will be good news about our new ground.

Over the summer we can make money on players that need to be cleared out and bring new players in probably at no net spend (so Mr Levy will be happy).

Our supporters are now generally much happier.

It's all looking good. I think we finally have our Tottenham back (although it's not the Tottenham
any of us have probably ever known!) - it's the Tottenham we have always wanted!.

I know being Spurs something will go wrong but potentially if the management can hold all this together then we can see 3 or 4 seasons ahead of success.

COYS!

Difficult not to be biased but I get the feeling our set-up is the envy of the league right now (barring the financially doped top two).

Young, hungry academy players - check

Fast attacking football - check

Forward thinking straight talking manager - check

New state of the art stadium on the way - check

Solidify the defence and add one or two with world class potential and it will be 24/7 hard-ons all round

Keep on improving and developing we are going to be one bastard of a team that others wont look forward to playing. (As long as stop shipping silly goals)

What's really amazing is how this has all come about through total coincidence*.

The most positive thing, in my opinion, is the strong core of players we now have at the club. Kane, Eriksen, Bentaleb, Dier, Vertonghen, Lloris are all players we can continue to build on. The other guys making up the usual starting XI are no slouches and also have the ability to continue to improve in both their performances and impact on the team's overall play. Last season, it felt a lot more desperate in terms of needing a change to the squad. This summer, I think it's more about adding 2-3 more quality players and shifting out the players who haven't bought in.

Add in the fact that we've by far and away been fielding the most consistently young side this season, yet are only 3 points off 4th at this time, is INCREDIBLY promising.

Clear the deadwood out in the summer and bring in a couple of quality additions.

Lloris/Vorm

Walker/Yedlin
Vertonghen/Alderweid
Dier/Fazio
Rose/Davies

Mason/Dembele
Bentaleb/Stambouli

Lamela/Townsend
Eriksen/Pritchard
Chadli/Konoplyanka

Kane/Austin/Soldado

Would be happy with that squad for next year.

Great opening post the only thing i disagree with is the 3/4 years of success with the young talent at the club we should be looking at a decade of it like chelsea have done.

Presumably with Walker-Peters, Veljkovic, Winks and Onomah in the wings as we'll need more than 23, especially if we're in Europe.

Our wage bill would absolutely plummet with the amount of youngsters in place of all those senior players sold so I think we could aim a bit higher with the transfers in, if by some miracle we actually managed to sell all our unwanted players.

I'd like two more academy players to come through.

Remember the Busby Babes and the Scholes, Beckham, Nevilles and Butt brigade. Let's do that !

We wouldnt know what to do with all our money ..... Oh yes pay off the new stadium !

I don't think i have seen a better side since the David Pleat managed one in 1986/1987. We finished third that season despite losing thirteen games of a forty two game season! We were in the running for all three domestic trophies that season and ended up being very Spursy and winning bugger all. One thing that does stick out though was that we had the fourth best defence in the league that season. Imagine where we would be with that this season?

Funny thing is Please played mainly with a certain Mr Clive Allen, and he bagged forty nine goals that season and we finished with an unheard of goals difference of +25.

If only............

The positives this season have been night and day compared to the last three. My only fear is the leaky, error prone defence that we have. If Poch can fix that then i would say he covered all the bases, but as yet the jury from my angle is still out.

I would agree that it's the first side I can enjoy watching since Redknapp left.

AVB was a disaster but Poch is picking up the pieces.

I generally agree with all in this thread, but I don't think we can conclude just yet.
  • A lot of our points have been gained from almost last kick off the ball. A certain degree of luck there.
  • A lot of our points have been gained from three players (Included Lloris). What about the other eight?
  • We sometimes play fluid, but also some times play very static. The trend however is very positive.
  • Is it the manager who tips the result in the right direction, or is it Kane and Eriksen?
  • Our defence look shaky a lot of times.
  • We haven't played a good away-match vs top 6 yet... (Maybe Liverpool)

Our big squad is not so big, when we drop miles in performance when including Soldado, Paulinho, etc,

Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the most positive fan you could find these days, but I'm just warning to not get overly carried away, it's a possibility not all is good a year from know.:)

But please dear Spurs-board - Continue in this direction!!
