What if he doesn’t have a semi decent 12 month and he struggles to get into our team or even into the match day squad then what? We will be stuck with a squad player who we have taken a gamble on and over paid for who we may very well struggle to sell on as a Levy won’t want to look a fool and admit he over spent on.

That can happen with literally any player, so I don’t see the point

Grealish would still be HG. He would maintain value quite well either way.

We'll be back in for him, just wait for the ITK later saying we've made a final offer for him and Grealish is forcing it through.

I really feel this one isn't over. Especially if we manage to move a couple out then I can definitely seeing this one being resurrected.

Levy is seemingly a good chairman with all other aspects but now he’s regularly getting caught short with transfers. And it’s so frustrating because that’s what we see most

It can happen with any player. However If you are taking a gamble which we would have been with Grealish and purely buying the player on potential you don’t generally spend close to your club record on such a player. Normally that type of fee you would spend on a player who has at least had one or two season performaning consistently in a top division/international level. Grealish hasn’t done this yet.

The recent hyper inflation in player prices means that breaking the club record means next to nothing.

Taking off my spurs tinted glasses, I can actually understand why they'd be stubborn and refuse to sell him at any price. Even if the new owners are not "football men" and don't understand FFP, there's no way Villa could replace Grealish for a player of similar quality. Keeping him massively increases their chances of promotion, the earnings from which would (I imagine) more than make up for any fines, while also endearing the fans to the new owners in the process.

Sucks for Jack in the short term but he's a fan and will no doubt knuckle down and fight for the team after the initial disappointment dies down.

Yeah but keeping him could also make them ineligibele for promotion. They got Janurary I suppose

Sherwood says he expects this to happen.

Our last glimmer of hope - the words of Tim Sherwood.

Mary mother of god.
