Could be bollocks but I know his brother had been on Twitter the other day sharing his insight in to what was actually going on, which went against what the media was spouting - anyway his dad has joined, supposedly o_O

Just bid £30m for Grealish and sign him already. Overpriced? Yes. But we could make it back easily if he develops the way we think.

Full quotes from his Dad (again it may be a fake, a bit weird if it is) -

"Just joined Twitter to say my piece on all the rumours about Jack. As a fathers point of view, all I ever wanted was for my lad to be happy and doing what he loved. He’s doing exactly that, I can’t be prouder of him.

When I grew up, I always wanted to play for the villa, I played my heart out every week hoping to get noticed - but I can’t tell you how proud it makes you feel seeing your son live a life long dream of both of you.

We’ve all sat down, as a family, and with Jack’s agent and really discussed what should happen in the future. We’ve also discussed the same thing with the club, and various other clubs, but the fact of the matter is that Jack is Villa born and bred.

It runs through the veins of everyone is this family, and Jack loves this club more than anything. I’m sorry to disappoint all the Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal fans - but Jack is going nowhere. He wants to become a legend at this club."

I thought Winks was more DM and Grealish is more AM.

Correct me if wrong but I highly rate Winks.
A Villa fan who I am close with says he plays deeper - in a Winks role. From what I have seen, Jack is a tremendously talented footballer - just think Winks is immense and totally underrated. In fact, for those feeling down in the dumps about this window - it is certainly worth re-watching highlights from both CL games against Madrid.

Yeah good luck becoming a legend under the coaching of Steve Bruce.

I'm sure he'll make you a super player, Jack. Absolutely convinced of it... (y)

Yeah I saw that - and if that's genuinely the case, fair enough. Not sure I completely believe this is what happened though. Think his family are trying to paint him in the best light possible for the Villa fans.

And maybe we didn't rate him as worth over 25m.

Yeah I agree, I am not sure it is the full truth - but the new owners wanted to save face and did not want to sell their star boy so soon in to their new ownership - they played a clever game in forcing Jacks hand knowing that he could only hand in transfer request whilst ruining his relationship with the Villa supporters, thus making the new owners look good in the eyes of the fans. It was clearly too much for Jack to handle, knowing if he handed in the request and the move fell through anyway, him and his family wouldnt receive a great reception.

Must be pretty deflating staring at another season in the Championship. Feel bad for the guy!

Yep, it’s one thing missing out on going from one premier league team to another but championship to champions league, Bruce to Poch is harsh.
Sure he’ll be fine though, helps that he’s a local lad, needs to save face for his family’s sake so am not surprised at the tweets coming out.
He will have to decide though if he should sign a new deal or turn down short term cash for greater control next time with 1 year left, might feel he can’t trust the new owners now.

So your blaming the player now? Smh. We had all summer to get it done, should have started putting bids in the day after the playoff final.

We've been in talks all summer, it's not last ditch attempt.
I don't blame the player, but saying him forcing the move was the only way we could have landed him now at the end. He's decided to stay loyal, warm feeling for villains i'm sure, personally I think he just threw his career to remain a local hero.

They just refused to sell in the end simple as that.

We had our chances to sign him didn’t we?

Left him and Villa hanging for too long.

£18m - £22m - finally offered up the pre agreed £25m. By then too late.

Should have made it happen when we had the opportunity and not give Villa the chance to shut it down in the last 24 hours.
