TOP TIP

Do you have something fragile you desperately need to keep out of harm's way such as a British Guiana 1c Magenta stamp, a vial of ebola virus, or the last mating pair of Palos Verdes Blue butterflies on Earth? Simply attach them to Jack Grealish's left foot during a football match and rest assured in the certain knowledge that they will be perfectly safe (y).
Sounds rather like Modric’s right foot and Dembele’s left.

First you have turned last 2-3 weeks into last couple of days. Secondly long gone are the days of signing players early? Sanchez was signed early last season.

I don't mind people moaning but at least moan about what's really happening.

Leaving it late intentionally is leaving it late intentionally. 2-3 weeks becomes last few days very easily if things don’t go smoothly (which they often don’t, as we all very well know).

Sanchez signed in mid August! That may seem early at Tottenham, but the season had already started.

I think Lamela has had a fair amount of time (before and after injury) to show he can step into Eriksen's boots and do what he does. He cant.

As I said, and have said on this forum, I am a massive fan of Lamela and have wanted him to succeed, but we need something different to what we already have in terms of Eriksen cover as we haven't found that solution, and the person to make way in the squad would be him as the others are too important.

I think Grealish ticks a lot of boxes from both a squad and financial balance POV so it allows us to allocate more money to other pressing areas

Cover is cover, they don’t have to be like for like. I definitely wouldn’t say Grealish is some kind of Eriksen clone either, they seem diffeeent to me. Maddison seemed the closest like for like we could get but like I say, cover is cover and One quality lamela and Eriksen share is they both have a good eye for a pass (particularly a through ball) in the final third.

Also, Lamela had never really been used in Eriksens position so to say he’s had a lot of tine to show he can fill his boots is a bit unfair imo.

Grealish is 1 of them players that opposition players/fans will hate and the more of them sorts the better. Personally think he would do well here. Think his issues are a thing of the past and he’s really progressed this season.

Doesn't mean much of anything to me. They're a championship club, its not like we're stealing Schalkes best player or something like that. We should be fishing in bigger ponds. Or skipping out on this fishing trip all together.
It's a futile exercising trying to disagree with people who will never bad mouth anything the club does and anyone the club wants. The bsodl’s run rampant on here.
I really don't think Grealish is a DM...he's too small and I don't think his tackling is his forte compared to others like Dier or Wanyama. I see him more as that Modric/Eriksen player.
Jack Grealish is a AM/winger.

He is strictly a player who IMO had potential to be a decent EL player who was good in the championship this year and decent last year after 2 pl seasons where he did little of note. For £10m-£15m, its worth the punt. More than that? Eh. Fits our mold of tryinv to make a quick buck.

What annoys people about this is that we’re passing on a player of real quality and much more potential for that quick buck when we sell him in 3 years because he wont be good enough. Thats not brave in the slightest. We were also told time and again things would different this year. Jokes on us for believing that drivel the club leaked out.

I agree. I have absolutely no problem with signing Grealish. I think he’s got potential and if Poch thinks he can bring the best out in him, then I support it.

It does seem like the sort of signing we should be making at the end of the window though, when we’ve made our key signings already. It’s the kind of signing that would actually make sense to leave late and then hold Villa to ransom on, as we know they need to sell and we know we’d be his preferred choice of club.
You are probably right Villa need the money right now. So right now is where the value is.

Villa need the cash immediately (if not sooner) - Grealish is going to be sold to someone soon - there is no waiting around for this one.

i think the kid could be top drawer, but next season i cant see where and when he is going to play
he isnt going to play over the existing players we have imo, someone like Martial you could see but Grealish isnt going to play over Son, Moura or Lamela i wouldnt have thought

He's a different kind of player to Son, Moura or Lamela. He's a playmaker.

I have to admit I am warming to the idea. He wouldn't be my 1st choice, but if it's a decent deal financially then it's surely a risk worth taking?

This sort of thinking makes me believe we are waiting for the PSG firesale having built that rapport already

Fuck Liverpool :banghead:

Seriously though what is the obsession with what other clubs are doing? We are on a different project, we do things differently and it has resulted in us finishing higher than Liverpool and 19 or 18 other clubs in the league for the last 3 years. We are not Liverpool, a team I hasten to add we smashed at Wembley this year, while we're mentioning beating teams at Wembley we also did Real Madrid and Yanited (in the league :shifty:)

Stop comparing our transfers to others, we work differently and have done for over a decade

i'm happy with taking a gamble on him. Not my money and he's worth the risk.

Sad state of affairs at villa. big club who have been ruined by terrible owners over the years
