Villa are set to receive a £3.6M sell-on free from Adama Traoré's imminent move from Boro to Wolves, so that's even less of a need for them to give Grealish to Levy on the cheap now.

That’s one way to look at it - Levy will see it as 3.6M less he needs to give them for Grealish so they meet FFP!

Regardless of what people expect or want Levy gonna do what Levy always does, try to maximize value of every deal. Sometimes it backfires, lots of time it drags deals out waaaaay longer than one would ever want.

I fully hope and expect Levy to extract value from this transfer. I understand the frustration and people wanting someone in but in my humble opinion Grealish isn't even guaranteed a place on our bench so I don't see the point of overpaying for him.

Of course it's not close - it might have been at one point, but genuinely wouldn't be surprised if he signs a new contract now.
