Tottenham join north London rivals Arsenal in race for highly-rated centre back Jamaal Lascelles

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...er-news-jamaal-lascelles-3035851#.Utsre7ROmUk

Tottenham are ready to rival Arsenal with a bid for Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles.

The Gunners are believed to have made an offer for the England Under-20 international, a ball-playing centre-back who has impressed for Forest in the Championship this season.

But Spurs have a long-term interest in the player , with their former boss David Pleat – who acts as an advisor to chairman Daniel Levy – championing the cause of Lascelles.

Pleat worked at Nottingham Forest when Lascelles was a highly-rated schoolboy at the club.

And Spurs are now weighing up a January bid which could see the 20-year-old player loaned back to the City Ground for the remainder of the season.

Forest have offered Lascelles a new long-term contract but may be willing to sell for around £3million, with Newcastle and Hull also interested.

We've been linked for a couple years now. I remember the annoying "french prison" ITK (which wasn't even linguistically correct as Las Celles would simply be Les Celles en francais due to there not being a feminine plural pronoun. Stupid ITKs...) about him I think two summers ago.

Personally I'd rather us try to get Caulker back because I've never seen Lascelles play. I have, however, blindly typed in Lascelles to the search bar of google and twitter and found some very high opinions of him from Forest fans and more. Apparently he was impressive when we were watching him too...

Same. If he wants to get into the England frame, we provide a far greater opportunity. Would love to see Cardiff go down for this very reason.

I could see this happening maybe, not that I think Sherwood is driving our transfer targets, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has watched this lad a bit when he was looking at younger players and I guess if the scouts and Baldini like the look of him then we may go for him. Personally I know nothing about him but have read some good reports on him from the time we were linked before. No bad thing to have a young player that is a prospect

i must say he does have a very "arsenal sounding" name. you'd expect half their youth team having names like that.

If you watched his performance against Man City then you really wouldn't want him back, believe me.

Whenever I've watched him I've been very impressed.

Also, how many players have looked horrible against City? Especially defenders. I wouldn't put too much stock into his performance.

Get on the case brother! Inside running on the ITK, make it happen.

Prefer Caulker myself.... but either way there is definately a place in our squad for a CB around that 20-22 age bracket

Agree. Should be very interesting to see which ones in our defense stand up to be counted in the next game.

Caulker will not be coming back to Spurs...Chris Miller (@WindyCOYS) has stated on several occasions that he was sold primarily for non footballing reasons.
As this is the case, we may as well have a serious look at Lascelles because if Le Arse are looking too then he's probably got a decent slice of talent

If you watched our last performance against city again, you would want him back again.
I have watched it a few times and Kaboul's performance against City was the worst I have seen in years, he was at fault for most of the goals we conceded.
Caulkers performance wasn't as bad as Kaboul but it was definitely up there.

Care to explain?

I thought it was just down to the fact he wanted to play first team football and didn't think he would get regular enough starts for us.

I seem to remember it was rumoured he had a fall-out with Lewis' daughter or something like it. Whether that is true or not I cannot say.

the rumour at the time was that Lewis was introducing his family to the staff and players, Caulker was allegedly overheard saying - cant we afford better brass?
or something along those lines
