Are they?

yip, proven to be shit buys after a few shiny moments & a lot of youtube ckips

I kinda feel the same about JM. I'm not sold on him as a player. We need to get rid of a few too, Hudd, Livermore, Parker to start with

15 Million pounds may be just about fair if you accept he is a talented player with lots of potential to improve and he is British. If you think he is as about as good as he is likely to get then it is far too much money.

I must say, although I am sure he's wonderful I do not see the logic or need to bring him to WHL,.... especially for 15-20 mil

Maybe this link is just a Wigan smokescreen to drive the price up from Everton? :playful:

I wonder why he's not exciting?

What is exciting about him? It feels like a boring Sean Davis signing. I hope you understand what I mean. What is exciting about Sean Davis. Nothing special, right...

You get the hang of it now. You just need to sense what an exciting player is.

Was Bale an exciting player when we signed him?

Now, Edwin Gyimah... That's surely a player for you that ticks all the right boxes!

He wouldn't have been Spursking exciting though. Something about his skin...

Like I have said many times before, it is about having a special skill. In the case of Bale, he was a great talent, with ball control, pace, vision, poweful, a rare left foot and a set piece taker at an early age. He was regarded as a special player because of his special skills. That is the kind of players we want. That is an exciting player. We don't want average players.

So to summarise, we all dream of a team of Gareth Bales....

Thumbs up, but we don't mind other exciting players as well :)

You can't have 25 exciting players though SK - some of them need to be more average players, otherwise they won't be happy to be squad players, or won't be able to fill in where they're needed.

What are your opinions on Holtby, just out of interest?

I agree with you. It is very difficult to find players who are willing to sit on the bench, but the players that would be willing to sit on the bench waiting for their chance is usually young and promising players. That is why we need to have at least double up in each and every position, and you should never be concerned when you have to make a substitution, as the player that will come on, is another exciting player you believe in! Let's have one example. You are 1-0 up in a random football match, and in the 57th minute, one of your strikers are injured. It is of course sad to see the player going off, but you know that you have another exciting quality player on the subs bench, so you don't worry at all. Let's say we had Benteke, Lukaku, Lacina Traore and Alexandre Lacazette. You would not mind playing all of them. This is just an example of how you get an exciting team. All these players are high value players now, but if you look back at some of my previous posts through the years, you will see that all these players have been mentioned earlier. A rotating system with all these strikers IS exciting, and this is what you are looking for. Now we have a partly exciting strikeforce which includes Defoe, Adebayor, Dempsey and Kane. (Bale not considered as a striker, but as a left winger in this case).

Regarding Holtby: Considering the transfer fee we paid for him, it was not really a huge risk for us. I rate him as a promising player, and think he will score a few goals this year if he gets the chance to play. He is used to the pace from German football, and should be able to adapt to the english game. I consider him more as a squad player, but an important squad player.

he is a very good player, will be a usefull addition to the squad if we can offload parker and huddlestone i reckon, and after we have sorted out a striker.
