And if Spurs don’t make it? “I can’t say anything about that so let’s see after the end of the season and after the World Cup,” said Vertonghen.

Well, he's off in the summer then. What a shit season this has turned out to be.

All depends if any big teams stump up the money. I think he cost us 10/12m so levy is going to looking for at least 20m+ to sell, that is a lot for a centre back who to be honest has been pretty average this season compared to his exceptional form last year both at the back and going forward (although unfortunately there are reasons I'm sure for his poor form and if he joined city or barca he would most likely instantly look the part again).

One saving grace could be that in the World Cup shop window at least he pays LB for Belgium so harder to shine as the classy CB he is.

He doesn't look happy on the pitch and looks moody as fuck! In some ways I don't blame him as we keep selling our best players! But in other ways he should man the fuck up and stop talking in papers and get some unity going in the club along with the rest of the squad.

Minor silver lining, both him and Hugo have plenty years left on their contracts. So we'd be looking at around 40 million which hopefully will be reinvested a little better next time

Of course it would be a blow to lose a player like Jan but equally, his performances this year have been below par - certainly compared to last years showings.

Doesn't help being sandwiched between a pair of donkeys mind but nevertheless, he's been far from imperious.

It was always coming, and people constantly go on about how the CL isn't important and blah de blah.

As much as i love him i dont think it will be the end of the world if jan leaves, i actually think Vlad showed a huge amount of promise when he had a run of games earlier this season, whats happened to him? Kaboul and Vlad as CB pairing has pretty much got everything. But then those knees....

He's gone, already clearly thinking about it.

Saw this coming ages ago. City will be all over this, a perfect partner for Kompany in every respect. A quality ball playing CB in beside his national team mate, who happens to be a rock - like a Kaboul actually.

Its the one position City need to address and I could see them stumping up 25 million for him - maybe even 30 in today's market.

He is hardly playing like a champions league player at the moment. If he hasn't secured anything yet then he isn't going a good way about trying to convince teams of his grit and determination.

Barcelona would surely rival them though considering their supposed long term admiration for him.

In fact, if he made his position abundantly clear he wants to go then clubs Europe wide would be sniffing.

Big meh...

I will not miss his berba-esque attitude and chiriches is probably as good...

The same goes for many of our players: they feel themselves that they are good enough for top 4, but they can't be bothered to make the effort of getting their current club in there...

I actually won't be that disappointed if we lose him. This will be unpopular but I'm not that convinced sometimes by him. Undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, ball playing CB in the League - but he's guilty of some real slack defending at times.

Again though, its all about having a nice blend with a CB partnership and beside a real physical presence like Kompany it would be the best in the League probably. He can step up into midfield during games with ease and give you another passing option. We won't see him beside Kaboul enough for them to form a real partnership.

All in all though it wouldn't disappoint me too much. What concerns me more is the perception and reality which is reinforced by continuing to sell our best players.

I'd be far more gutted over losing Lloris.

I think we all just want to see a Verts / Kaboul partnership for a run of games.
