"I received a lot of cards, letters and messages from Spurs fans and that's something special as well, so I'd like to thank them all. The Club has been so supportive. It's been tough but I've had good people around me and that's helped."

I really do feel for Jermain. A lot of people inside and outside the club had the wrong impression of him when he first came to us, whereas he's actually proved to be a very decent and likeable individual, which must only make this whole episode a lot harder to take for the guy. Knowing Defoe though, it will only make him stronger.

Hopefully his personal and footballing life can now look forward to a brighter future.

Robofan, you think the club will wear black armbands tomorrow? It's probably not Spurs related enough for a minute's applause/silence, as in it's a family member as opposed to an ex Spurs player or mass disaster. Saying that, i seem to remember a minute's silence for Hoddle's dad when he died, though i could be wrong.

I can see him getting emotional if he's given a special welcome tomorrow.

I am sure it has been planned to do so, and i cant see any reason for the ref to say no. ultimately it will be jermains call though.
The rest of the family will be at the game as usual, so i think a special welcome to them all would be appreciated.
