I don’t see him being sold ahead of others outside of the first 11.
With the current injuries, no, probably not in the immediate future. But let’s face it, he needs to be sold, so if and when we get a good offer we need to take it. Much like Sanchez the bigger picture has to be getting in someone more suitable.

Tottenham Hotspur

Injuries and suspensions have afflicted a Tottenham squad that was already a work in progress, so head coach Ange Postecoglou and the hierarchy will aim to keep building in January.

Spurs — like the majority of their rivals — will be operating on a tight budget, but it does not prevent them transfers; they will just need to be creative.

The priority is a centre-back and a lot of work is being done. Names such as Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo are in the public domain but it is doubtful the France international defender will join Spurs this winter.

Their approach to other positions — such as a midfielder and wide attacker — will be determined once there is further clarity on when Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Giovani Lo Celso and Manor Solomon will regain fitness and also whether funds can be generated via exits.

A frustration for Spurs last summer was the difficulty they encountered in trying to shift personnel who were surplus to requirements. Offers for Eric Dier will be entertained — or he will go as a free agent in June — and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg might depart if suitable proposals are received.

No disrespect to Ornstein but that seems like conventional wisdom rather than informed reporting.

Was speaking to my client who has played against him.

Said he is incredibly talented and a very strong defender. Would suit the PL.

The only issue is he said he gets suspended for silly things like picking cards up for dissent and overly strong tackles.

He is suspended tonight where he was supposed to be playing against my client 🤣🤣

So he may be one that we would need patience with

Sounds like he'd fit right in!

That is why I included the original article text - so it becomes a little easier to understand the context.

But, conventional wisdom exists for a reason - it will be difficult to get him, particularly if we are price-sensitive.

I personally am not too worried about Ornstein opinion on Spurs related matters these days. He said a few days before we signed Porro that the deal was “100% off”.

He’s just playing the percentages, easier to say it’s doubtful (especially due to the Nice and Utd links) than stick his neck out. Just common sense it’ll be hard, but he covers himself if it happens as he’s not said it won’t happen.

Reading that article the whole league doesn't have any money and basically won't buy anyone which well, seems very unlikely

I think Emerson played the inverted RB role very well under Conte. Granted that was in a back 4, but I think he's as good or better defensively than Porro and was often popping up in the penalty area in dangerous positions. This season though he's only got any minutes at LB or CB.

We can't be waiting. A CB HAS to come in this January.

Now a Lenglet style stop gap before a Todibo summer arrival I could just about stomach, but we can't be waiting for him without anybody else coming in.

Jean-Clair is the perfect backup signing. With a name like that, he can be listed on both the men's and women's team rosters 😬

Lol this is moronic. He's undoubtedly the most reliable football journalist in the UK.

He is a reliable journo but he also gets lots of things wrong.

He said the Porro deal was off, we signed him the next day. Things change quickly in football but he relishes posting about deals being dead for us.

He enjoys posting negative news about Spurs and you rarely see him posting positive stories about us. He’s also a scum fan.

Everyone said the Porro deal was off? You have absolutely no proof for a single thing you've said.

He is clearly a good journalist but if you look at his tweets regarding Spurs over a period of time you’ll notice a pattern imo. He rarely posts positive stuff about us.

It’s not difficult to say a Todibo move is doubtful given he will cost a decent amount, is wanted by many clubs and Nice may not want to sell in January. Other journalists post about our interest and he jumps straight in to say oh it’s doubtful he will sign for Spurs.

The window isn’t even open yet, let’s see what happens.

Ornstein is not a WUM, nor does he post anti-Spurs stuff like that twat Matt Law. But Ornstein's position as, essentially, the chief transfer journalist in the UK means he rarely sticks his neck out in the way he used to. He's not said it won't happen, he's saying he'd be surprised if it did.

And, let's be honest, most of us would be surprised too if we bought an expensive, starting quality CB in January.

Maybe just stop reading his output then if he annoys you so much.
