He has told me himself that he is very happy at Spurs, loves being with his mates etc, but, he feels Jol's time with him may be up. Wants to play regular football, and if he wants that international place, he needs to play week-in, week-out. Nothing is certain yet, have to wait and see.

Defoe is actually an extremely nice bloke, I've got to know him and his step-dad fairly well over the last few years (he even gave me a couple of shirts) and he has always said that he doesn't like Jol and doesn't get on with him the slightest. Jol ignores him and Defoe thinks he's arrogant.

Just passing it on guys, make what you will of it. There was obviously going to be a thread for him soon anyway, so i thought I'd nip ahead of the pack.

Was just about to start a thread about Defoe with the following info from Noodles

Only no shows Jol and Keano, Keano was visiting friends in Ireland. Definately leaving says its personal Jol does not like him and does not talk to him. He realises he has'nt progressed his game as he should have still reckons his 20 goals in the circumstances was a decent return. Gets on with everyone else at the Club but wants to get on reckons if Jol went he'd stay even if it meant working from the bench. other news back in the frame for Bale slight favourites Manure have stepped back and not so keen. Kaboul NOT at the Lane at the weekend still very confident of getting him
Later in the same thread about Defoe

he has been offered new terms would sign but not for Jol....
As stated Defoe agrees his games not improved as he would have liked ..its the silence from Jol he cant stand ...

Thanks for the info, yb. So on balance, bearing in mind nidge's post, do we think that he'll leave? And if so how will the club explain it if we "don't sell our top players"?

He's our 3rd choice striker BOF, he's not one of our top players.

It would also be intriguing considering the "Miss World" comment earlier in the season. I'm reluctant to believe that it's even possible to not get on with MJ. But there we go.

Still, it is the same thing Davis said when he left - Jol didn't talk to him and because of that he thought him arrogant. Davis did recant this when he turned christian, and defoe is a committed christian too.

He won't be playing week-in week-out with any club that's qualified for Europe.

Cheers for the info, Brett.

But not towards their own players.

See God.

You can see God?! Eek

Sorry, that's quite spammy really. I should add something about Defoe.

Although I don't feel as bad about him possibly going. It might be that he's a Gooner. Despite what other people (tano) might say. :shake:

Now we have ITK saying BMJ does talk to both Defoe & Keano  Is he heightist and is prejudiced against the vertically challenged?

Or is it rumour mongering?

I just find it suspect that both the older (service not age) Spurs strikers are singled out for the conventry treatment. They don't seem upset about it on the pitch. In my rambling way I am trying to question the ITKs on this as it is unusual for both old-Spurs strikers to have the same lament.

Apparently Defoe is Pompys backup choice after Viduka

Daily Mirror said:
Portsmouth will step up their bid to land Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe after fears they will miss out on Middlesbrough's Mark Viduka.

Its in the paper today that Harry Redknapp wants him as his #1 striker. This has been said before on a few sites and forums. I always think there's no smoke without fire....
