Only two of the Welsh team have been playing regular club football and that's in the championship.

got done for pace again on denmark's 2nd goal.

he defends the box well but every time he gets dragged out to that wide cb/fb area he struggles.
It was his body shape that caused the problem. He was far too square so when the Danish player inevitably pushed it into the space, he was having to turn and then chase him. He should have been standing more facing the side line, ready to shepherd him towards the corner.

His other problem yesterday was focusing too much on getting tight to his man (who had his back to goal) when he should have been preparing for the ball that was about to go to the runner in behind. He gave away a few unnecessary free kicks and allowed some dangerous chances by doing that.

I like him and think there's a good defender in him, but he needs some good coaching to resolve some of these weaknesses to counter his lack of pace with better decisions. Regular game time wouldn't hurt either.

I think that showed as many of them tired around about the middle of the second half against Denmark. They put up some great performances to get to the knock out stage but it clearly took a lot out of them.

Didn't watch the Denmark game but I think he's become a bit overrated by this forum.

Did he look promising at times? Sure. But to say he should no doubt be a starter next season, I don't agree with that.

It's a low bar to clear to be a starter at cb at the moment, but I do agree.

He looks a good player, but still has a lot to improve.

I think part of the problem is that players showing good potential or some strengths quickly get put into the "good box." This then stops us from seeing the lack of experience or weaknesses.

Rodon is showing good potential, nothing more, nothing less.

I guess it comes down to this

would you start him ahead of dier and Sanchez?

I think I would right now.

hopefully we can upgrade on those two so he doesn’t have to be a key player just yet

Overrated on here - yep. He had a poor tournament and, but like some said I think it's more down to our other CB-options. But I can see why Dier/Sanchez still starts ahead of him.

Hell people on here think Skipp will run our midfield next season

Not true, all people are saying is that he deserves to be given the chance to make himself first choice and that based on what he’s done so far, if he steps up he solves a lot of problems. Not sure why you think it’s appropriate to mock people for that.

Good HG option, worst case he's a solid backup option who can play Cup games, will have decent re-sale value too. It's often all about partnerships, Lovren looked great next to Fonte, Dawson with King and anyone with prime Toby or Jan, if we get one world class CB everyone else will do better too. Quality DM like Wanyama would also help.

I agree he should be given a chance. But people are way overreacting and hyping the guy to much.

Here's just some quotes - no names, so yeah I can "mock people" even though it was mostly a joke:

Let's start with yourself - basically saying he should start in our midfield next season:
High hopes for the boy. Genuinely think that if he ends up in a 3 with Højbjerg and Ndombele, our midfield will be formidable.

Although Holberg has had a good season I think Skipp will be first choice DF next season.

And the response to the above:
Skipp is a much better footballer, but hasn't got experience at the highest level so it may take a while

a skipp/lo celso/ndombele midfield would have been interesting to see, a perfect blend of attributes in theory.

There seems to be a lot of pressure growing that Skippy will be the man to make a difference to us next season.

Skippy is going to save the club’s ass this summer regarding our transfer activity. Will be like a much needed new signing in midfield.

Look I can find much more examples, but I really don't have the time. This is the Rodon-thread after all, not Skipp.

Really don’t see anything there that justifies your belittling comment.

IF we can get in a couple of new central defenders this summer then I think a loan to another premiership team or even good European league would do him good next season.

If we don’t buy a new centre back or two then I’d certainly have him as a starter over Dier and Sanchez
