I agree this won't happen, but doubt Levy would view £20m Stones as expensive if Broomfield and Baldini tell him he's good enough.

Once he's won some caps, his value won't drop below £20m.

Then we've 7-8 years service before getting our money back or making a profit.

He'd view 28 year old Remy as expensive before Stones.

Unlikely Everton would sell, or he'd be swayed - but you could say they do need to replace two of their best players in Lukaku and Delofeu.

They'd take our call at least, and if we can shift players we could afford and justify it.

with the amount utd, city, chelsea, arsenal and liverpool are spending, i think it's wise if we only invest in young talent. stones looks a very good prospect, difficult to see it happening though.

He is a serious talent - no question about it. And why would Everton sell him to us, when they know that in a year or two, he could potentially worth 25m+ or 30m+ ?

Not happening...

Because we could whack on a few clauses. If it buys us wins, we reward them.

Out of our league

The guy is going to be England's first choice centre back for the next 3 world cups, if he goes anywhere it would be to a club far higher up the food chain

I think the reason they won't sell is because of how it looks, not because it wouldn't benefit them.

Playing devil's advocate the benefit is opportunity cost.

Everton don't have the funds to benefit from playing the transfer market - so how can they improve?

If they can't add to Stones, or replace Lukaku, they're in danger of regressing.

Yes they cold sell Stones for £25-30m in 2 years.

Or sell now for £20m, and invest intelligently in 2 or 3 players who double in value.

That makes them far stronger, on the field, and in the bank.

Martinez would back himself to pick and develop the next Benteke, Bony, or Lovren.

I'm not sure he'd fancy testing the fans by selling though - there would have to be a push from the player, which there's no indication of.

He's at a similarly good club, with a good manager - and should stay put for 2-3 years.

We won't be getting Stones. If he has his head screwed on he will stay with Everton for a few more years yet.

As for Phil Jones, his best position is CM. He doesn't have to concentrate as much there. Average at RB and average at CB.

Why exactly should he stay with Everton for a few more years? Have you not seen our Sainsbury's?
No, seriously, Tottenham wouldn't be a bad move for him?

Same Old Song

Woke up this mornin'
Rumours rollin' round my head
Oh I woke up this mornin'
Rumours rollin' round my head
No reason why Stones would leave the Evertones
God I wish that I were dead.
(take it, Eric)
