Canadian star likely heading to Premier League
A report from TSN in Canada states that Jonathan David, 22, is wanted by both Chelsea and Tottenham in the Premier League, and Barcelona, as the young forward continues to impress at Lille.

Pretty good player.. but would cost a fortune and would only work in Son's role as he always plays with a bigger/holdup striker.

If we sold Lucas & Bergwijn in the Summer it would make sense but not sure I see it.

I suppose he could play on the right of a front three but that's not where he currently plays.

Conte did say we needed 2 players for every position

Son/David
Kane/Vlahovic

Very very realistic

Depends what kind of money they’re looking for him tbh. His goal scoring record isn’t amazing for someone to come in and expected to hit the ground running when Kane isn’t available.

Maybe he’s more of a rotation/backup for Son but I’m extremely hesitant of signing players from Ligue 1.

Just wanted to quickly say thank you for your posts, such as this one & the ones you've posted in the Kessie thread over the last couple of days.

I know there's few like me, who simply don't know much about any players outside of Spurs/PL. So your knowledge has been much appreciated.

If vlahovic is as nailed on as some say then we won’t be buying this guy aswell

Why, though?

There's every chance we could be starting next season without any of Ndombele, Clarke, Alli, Bergwijn, Gil.

Moura & Son will both be hitting their 30s , and it's surely clear that youngsters such as Scarlett who aren't quite ready to step into the first team just yet.

We've spent 4 years saying this squad has been allowed to go stale for too long, and desperately needs refreshing (people do love to constantly bring up Pochettino & the painful rebuild). Yet when we're linked to X player, people seem to come up with reasons to not get the refresh done.

Whether you/we believe info & ITK etc about sizeable investment coming in (by summer) is one thing. But it's almost unanimously accepted that we would not have brought in Conte and just expect him to continue to work with a squad that is falling further and further behind clubs that we were finishing above just a few short seasons ago.

Believe!

Was all set to do some in-person scouting next Sunday during the internationals but they’ve gone and cancelled our tickets because of you-know-what that’s been going around lately…

We need to start succession planning. Kane, Son, and Moura can't go on forever.

David would be a fantastic signing and having him rotate with Son for that LW position would ease the pressure on him as well.

Then in 3 or so years, he can slot in seamlessly.

Be interesting what the thinking behnd this would be, i.e. would this mean the end for either Bergwijn or Moura?

Duscan Son and Kane (plus added versatility of Adama able to play in a front three)

Watched all his goals last season, reminds me of Lukaku has to take a touch before shooting never really hit any first time 80% wouldn't score in PL but that's based off an 8min video so pointless really hahaha!

I am from Ottawa which is where Jonathan David is from. Being a local coach I have seen him play in person for a few years before he eventually left for belgium and have followed him along the way. Very level headed kid, always worked extremely hard and seemed quite humble.

I think if we are being linked with him Conte is def having eyes on playing two strikers consistently as he did at inter. David would play the role Lautauro played bascially. His link up play is quite good, he has very good pace. His skill is decent, I think his finishing/shooting is a bit erractic and could def use work. His movement is quality in trying to get in behind.

Theres no doubt he will be a good player, but I don't know if he will end up hitting the heights he's being talked for in a potential 50 plus million move.

I def would be interested in getting him, and I doubt if we do we wouldnt still be linked with a hitman as he is def a secondary striker, I just don't know if I would pay what would be required for him, but he's def very interesting and I do like him. He could very well explode or be a bust, but I def can see him being a good not exceptional epl player.

Would love a Canadian on Tottenham tho!
