I also think they have a good chance of winning the league next season but I also don't really care what they do. We don't have to play them every week and when we do meet them, AVB probably knows better than anyone how to play against one of his teams. The media can milk their balls till they're dry if it helps to take the spotlight off of Bale for a little while.

Sure was but strange how such as easy job has been failed by a host of top quality managers since.

Blimey, you REALLY don't thnik it's anything to do with their being a markedly different team?

I am arguing the team was key. They were pretty set, a tight group. That counts for a whole lot. Unless the eleven on the pitch are irrelevant.

Since then cfc managers have had the job of augmenting or even rebuilding (AVB) the side. I believe this can make a difference.

I think you could argue that now. But the managers who took the job shortly after Jose left had the core team mostly in their primes and failed.

And I do appreciate that Mourinho is a good man manager (of sometimes incredibly puerile talent). Just can't get behind this media obsession. And for me, MOTD is going to be a little less watchable.

Mr Mourinho: whatever else he is, he's not stupid:

"There is something I say whenever I go to a new club and I am going to say it again when I meet the players on July 8 - and some of the boys will have heard it before from me," Mourinho said.
"It is a sentence I always say on the first day: 'If you are a top professional, if you are not a selfish person, if you put the club in front of yourself and if you are here to work 100 per cent for me, for your fellow players and for the club, then we will have a wonderful relationship.
"If you are selfish, if you think about yourself and you don't care about the club, don't care about the image, if you don't care about the fans then we are in big trouble, so it depends on you if the relationship is fantastic or if it is not fantastic.'
"Sometimes you have groups that adapt to this in a very easy way; sometimes you have groups that it becomes like a doctrine, and everything is easy.
"Sometimes you have a couple of guys that are not too keen to accept these kind of rules and this is where you have some problematic relationships, and the club in that moment either supports the problematic player or the manager.
"If the club supports the manager the two little guys - gone, easy."

Of course, I think this is related to the players who undermined HIM at the end of his first stint, rather than AVB's more recent problems. Shocking to think that Chelski players have been getting away with this for years.

I like him. Sure, he's more than a little classles at times but then they all are. He just doesn't pretend.
