Foyth started again at DM vs Sevilla due to injuries in midfield. Harsh VAR PK for handball. Wild shot going over the net, but Foyth could not get his hand out of the way fast enough. OK at defending, but lost the ball a number of times when put under pressure. Too bad. Spurs could use a defensive-minded backup to Hojbjerg, but looks like it is not Foyth.

To be fair, it is his fourth game starting in that position. PEH has played about 350 more in that role. Let’s see how he would do playing there over 40 games, and then judge.

bad news for Juan - Capoue has been signed for his "new" position of DM. Increases chances he will be back with us in the summer.
Perhaps it would make sense for Jose to try and mold him into a DM?
Midfield next season:
Ndombele, GLC, (youth back up Alfie)
Winks, Skipp, (youth back up White)
PEH, Foyth, (youth back up Bowden)

To be fair I always saw him as a DM rather than a CB. Not at PEH level unfortunately.

He only just turned 23 and hasn't had regular playing time for a couple of seasons now, still potential in there and could become a better player.
Agreed but I have been amazed at PEH’s energy and toughness. Not seen that from Foyth. But I think Foyth would have better attacking and passing abilities.

As he is quite fast he'll be good tracking back covering the exposed areas especially the right flank.

I keep forgetting about this guy and had largely written him off before that. If he’s doing alright then it might be worth having him in our squad next season. Saves a few quid.

I think Foyth is probably done at the club, but a young international defender who can cover rb, cb and dm would be great for the squad next season.

It's unfortunate that Juan wasn't allowed to go out on loan 2 seasons ago as he would have benefitted greatly from actually playing and minimizing those errors he frequently made. There's a classy player in there and my only hope is Jose will give him a chance to integrate him next season.

Sorry to say it, but I'd rather him than Doherty.

One is a versatile 23 year old who, as you say, can cover multiple positions, has a degree of football intelligence, decent turn of pace and has potential to be improved by one of the best managers in world football.

The other is a 29 year old who is not going to get much (any?) better, seems only capable of performing in 1 position, 1 system, no pace & looks to be somewhat out of his depth.

I agree with you, Razz. I think Foyth probably is done at THFC. But with the current financial climate & almost certain tight purse strings (for all clubs) when the transfer window opens. I know which one I'd personally rather persist with.

Has anyone watch much of him this season? I think like a lot on here he needed a loan two or three seasons ago.

Another sufferer of the poch development, hopefully both him and rodon get a good loan next season. If they're not going to play get them on loan.

He has all the tools to be a great player, he just needs regular first team football. I'd prefer a championship/pl loan next season.

The question should be asked, are they going to get 15-20 starts, if the answer is no then there is no reason for them to be stuck in our squad.
